  1. Hi guys! I am using the LESS/CSS Pagelines extension and tried to add the following code to make use of FontAwesome: a.c2a:before { content: "\f07a\00a0"; font-family: "Font Awesome 5 Pro"; Font-weight: 900; font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: inherit; padding-left: 4px; } The issue is that as soon as I have the CSS via the Custom Styling text box, Pagelines (or the extension) strips out the backslashes (\). As a result, I had to abandon the CSS/LESS extension and instead add all my CSS code to a separate .css file. Is there a fix or workaround for this? Thanks Michael
  2. Hello Evan,   I purchased PageLess for Frameworks, and my plugin does not seem to work for DMS...   Do I need to re-purchase this again? As my sections / plugins are not showing anywhere and there does not seem to be an update in the plugin section of WP..   Please advise..   Thank you
  3. Hi,   I use the PL color variable @pl-base in my custom LESS, so that some customizations (e.g. PL or personal LESS mixins) immediately take in account any change in global settings.   This @pl-base variable is described as "Page background color" in documentation http://support.pagelines.me/docs/miscellaneous/less/: actually, it seems to me it's the "Content Background" color defined in Site Options \ Color Control.   If they exist (I never managed to find them in documentation, including the "PHP Cross Reference of PageLines Framework"), what are the PL LESS variables referring to "Body background" color and (real) "Page background" color?   I most certainly miss something considering there are variables for all other colors defined in Site Options (e.g. @pl-text, @pl-header,...).   Many thanks in advance!
  4. I have two websites running Pagelines 2.4.4 as their theme (using a child theme). I also use "W3 Total Cache" and "Amazon S3" as my CDN service. The first website does not work properly when CDN is activated on "W3 Total Cache". The problem is that the LESS CSS is not uploaded to "Amazon S3" so the website misses the styles. The second website has the exact same settings but it has no problem.   Checking everything I noticed that the first website has a folder names "page lines" in the uploads folder (within "wp-content"). Inside this folder there are multiple compiled files of compiled CSS files. Also this line in the source code of my homepage refers to one of these compiled files: <link rel='stylesheet' id='pagelines-less-css' href='http://url.com/wp-content/uploads/pagelines/compiled-css-1372540484.css' type='text/css' media='all' /> In the second website the line is different: <link rel='stylesheet' id='pagelines-less-css' href='http://url2.com/?pageless=1_1372548999' type='text/css' media='all' /> There is no "page lines" folder created in the "uploads" folder in the second website and it has no problem.   Why these two websites have this difference and how can I fix that?
  5. Hi, I would like you to provide me explanations and clarifications pertaining custom LESS, especiallay versus custom CSS, using the "child theme method". The following CSS snippets do not fully work using the a "child CSS" (whereas they work with the two other customization methods i.e. site options \ custom code and customize plugin). By contrast, they DO fully work when put in a "child LESS". Example #1 : a custom class of my own .astuce p {background-color: orange;} .astuce p:before {content: url('..images/everything-spritev2.png');} .astuce p:after {content: "\2713"}   The first rule only works when put in my child "style.less" file. Mixing Pagelines overriding IDs such as #page or #site and/or CSS important declaration in a child "style.css" was fruitless. The two last rules work whatever the method. Example #2 : a widget class ("Google Doc Embedder" - GDE) a.gde-link:link {     font-size: 80%;     font-variant: small-caps;     color: green; }   The color property only applies when put in a child "style.less" file. the two first properties work whatever the method.   Is this all logical for you, and if so WHY  ? Am I wrong or right when thinking there IS a difference here when using LESS vs. CSS, one way or the other?   Moreover, could you confirm me a "child LESS" file is grouped together with all other Pagelines LESS files and dynamically compiled, contrary to a "child CSS file" ? If this indeed the case, should I expect a major benefit from this, or not really ? Thank you so much in advance for your comments and clarifications... ! Best regards, Erwan
  6. Hi, The following customization method for boxes works for me: bluebox --> class added in Box Setup Options \ Boxes Custom Class .mybluebox {background-color: blue;} --> CSS for that class added in Site Options \ Custom code But when I put this styling code in my child theme style.less file, nothing happens. I tried to add PL overriding ID's and it does'nt help: #site .mybluebox {background-color: blue;} #page .mybluebox {background-color: blue;} Do I miss something e.g. combining with the .fbox class in my style.less, and if so which way  ? I'm sorry to raise a subject much discussed in this forum but I'm lost! Many many thanks in advance.
  7. [Note - I previously started this conversation in a separate thread but I want to open it up for more discussion so am reposting here.] I am new to Pagelines and am trying to understand how build a child theme from scratch. I have some basic HTML/CSS knowldege but I am currently a beginner when it comes to PHP & Javascript. I have built some Wordpress sites before but have only ever made basic CSS modifications to an existing theme. I have never built a theme or child theme before. I want to learn how to create/customise a child theme in Pagelines but I have no idea where to start, and can't find any documentation to help me. I just watched the PDET Video tutorials. They were a little out of date but still very helpful in understanding how to create Pagelines Sections, even for a beginner coder like me. The problem is there are no more video tutorials! Sections were covered, but where are the rest of the promised videos on Themes and Plugins? We need a series of tutorials (maybe as videos) taking us though the steps of building a Pagelines child theme from scratch (or from the base child theme), similar to the sections video tutorials. I have looked at the Theming page but it does make a lot of assumptions about our knowledge. I currently don't really understand how all the different components fit together in creating a child theme. Here are my questions: To build a child theme for Pagelines, do we need to know Wordpress theming already? If yes, are there any good tutorials out there to take us through the process? How do all the components of a child theme fit together? How do hooks and actions fit into the design? Do we need to learn LESS before we begin? Any good resources for this? Is there an example theme that uses bootstrap available? I want to understand how to use the grid. Is it easy to take an existing Wordpress theme and convert it into a Pagelines child theme? How do I do this? Would I even want to, or is it too long-winded? What are the best tools to use? How do you see what you are doing (CSS changes etc.)? Are their any video tutorials explaining how to create child themes for Pagelines? I like Pagelines in principle, but these days very few of us would build a WP theme from scratch for a new website - we'd simply take an existing theme and customise it. Pagelines does not appear to have much choice in this regard, since there are currently very paid few child themes available. Thanks in advance.
  8. Customizing Accordion

Hi, I tried to customize an accordion created using the pl_accordion shortcode using css in the "Custom CSS / LESS" section of the Site Options. Here is the code I used: .accordion .accordion-heading { .background-color:#000000; .color:#ffffff; } However, the styling doesn't show on the page, presumably because the accordion style properties are set by script and not by CSS? Or perhaps I am doing something wrong here? How can I get nice black accordion headings with white text on them? Regards, Sumit
  9. I am trying to customize a child theme (base theme), I am looking at the document and seems like I don't need to compile LESS file into .css, is this correct? When I compile LESS file, it overrides the comment section of the css file and broke the theme. Thanks
  10. Hi, My span3, span4 or span6 are not working when I integrate those classes within my HTML markup. It has worked in the past, however this time Im using LESS/CSS. What could be causing this? span12 seams to be working. You can view the example here.... http://bosscreative2.demos.thisisboss.com/
  11. Hello, I am using the CSS customize plugin and when I edit the and save my LESS file, I am not see the changes made to the theme. I even went to my pagines>website setup> and clicked on save changes to see if that worked. What can be causing this? Thanks! Joe
  12. I'm trying to change Framework's global default font size and line height on my site. I currently use the Customize plugin and am familiar with the Custom Code section as well. From the docs it looks like these two LESS variables are: @font-size: @line-height: I guess I am just at a loss to where I should change these. I tried placing these along with the font size I want in the custom code section...but it didn't work. Could someone just give me some basic guidance on how to set one of these two? I could be messing up the format. Thanks!
  13. Hey Guys, I have just a small recommendation for the next iterative upgrade of Pagelines. If you can, I would really appreciate it if you could tell your compiler to stick the child theme's style.less file in AFTER you stick the main wp-admin chosen styles in. I'm working on a site right now that I'm using a custom font on, so I've setup the fonts and some mixins in the style.less file, however, all of it is getting overridden because the styles chosen in the backend are being added to the compiled stylesheet after the child theme's .less styles. Just to make this a bit more tangible: @font-face { font-family: 'FontinRegular'; src: url(@{plChildRoot}/lib/fontin/fontin_sans_r_45b-webfont.eot); src: url(@{plChildRoot}/lib/fontin/fontin_sans_r_45b-webfont.eot?#iefix) format('embedded-opentype'), url(@{plChildRoot}/lib/fontin/fontin_sans_r_45b-webfont.woff) format('woff'), url(@{plChildRoot}/lib/fontin/fontin_sans_r_45b-webfont.ttf) format('truetype'), url(@{plChildRoot}/lib/fontin/fontin_sans_r_45b-webfont.svg#fontin_sans_rgregular) format('svg'); font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; } // Font Mixin .fontinRegular(){ font-family: FontinRegular, Helvetica, Verdana, Arial, sans-serif;} // Add Mixin .site-title{ .fontinRegular(); } And when I look at the stylesheet, Firebug shows it coming up like this: // line 8949 thead, h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, .site-title { font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif; font-weight: bold; } // line 7207 .site-title { font-family: FontinBold,FontinRegular,Helvetica,Verdana,Arial,sans-serif; } In essence meaning my custom font is being overridden because the default/wp-admin styles are being added in afterward. So I have to add an !important into the .fontinRegular() mixin so that it doesn't get wiped out by the other style calls. You would make my life, and really any other developer's life much easier if my child theme's style.less is the last one to be added to the compiler Thank you!
  14. I'm in the process of setting up a dedicated Wordpress multisite hosting environment and am working on transferring over some of my clients' websites. I seem to be running into an issue however in that the LESS/CSS compiler isn't able to create the file it wants to. When I view the site, all of the styles are messed up because the compiled css is throwing the following error: <link id="pagelines-less-css" media="all" type="text/css" href="http://paddi.kether-interactive.ca/wp-content/themes/pagelines/pagelines-compiled-css-6_1358312644/" rel="stylesheet"> <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN"> <html><head> <title>500 Internal Server Error</title> </head><body> <h1>Internal Server Error</h1> <p>The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.</p> <p>Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.</p> <p>More information about this error may be available in the server error log.</p> </body></html> </link> (Just for the sake of clarity, everything in between the <link></link> is what is displayed from Firebug when I open the css file) Are there specific server modules or settings that I need to have set for this to compile properly? I've tried stripping all but the essentials from my Wordpress .htaccess file, changing file permissions, and more... nothing seems to work and I'm wondering if there's some php module or something I need to install to get this working? Thanks, Dave
  15. Hey Is there a way to set less variables in my theme from the admin panel. for example - i Wish to let the user change the text color, I have a less variable - @text-color:#ffffff; and I wish to let the user change that variable color. What is the right approach for that ? Shani
  16. Less Compile Error...

Hi, I have looked through a couple of other threads which had the same issue but I can't seem to sort this out. Very sorry but I really don't have much of a clue when it comes to any of this stuff. I enabled WP_DEBUG as mentioned by other posts and get this: Notice: load_plugin_textdomain was called with an argument that is deprecated since version 2.7 with no alternative available. in /home/content/61/7859861/html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2724 Notice: Constant PLUGINDIR already defined in /home/content/61/7859861/html/wp-content/plugins/quick-notice/quick-notice.php on line 20 Notice: wp_enqueue_script was called incorrectly. 17. Hi I have found a similar post to this, but am starting a new post in the hope that you will resolve lack of documentation on adding .less to a Pagelines Base / Templates Theme. You say .less is great, but then leave us with scant any info on how to implement. I have added a style.less file to the theme folder (same place as style.css) and tried some .less, but nothing happens whosoever. Can you please advise on necessary steps to add .less to base theme. Regards Glennyboy
  18. Hello, I read docs about LESS but it's not clear to me if I have to install some script on my hosting space in order to use it or LESS works 'as is' in the core of PL? I mean...can I use PL 2.3.5 same way I used 2.1.6? Thanks
  19. Hej, I'm doing my first steps with LESS and tried to split my styles into different files. But importing into my style.less seems not to work as it's supposed to be. (Probably I'm too dumb to see the mistake) As long as my LESS-Code (do you say 'code'?) is in the style.less everything is perfectly fine, but as soon as I put it in a file in the subfolder '/less/' of my childtheme it's not taking effect anymore. I tried @import with a relative path @import 'less/downloads.less'; - it seems to cause a error while compiling, so the page isn't loading anymore. and I tried an absolute path @import '@{plChildRoot}/less/downloads.less'; - the page loads correctly but my style changes don't take effect + I can't find them in the compiled CSS-File. ( + I tried both ' and " ) Thank you very much in advance.
  20. New to Pagelines and LESS. It is my understanding that Pagelines utilized the style.less file since that's where all the code is (as opposed to the style.css). When I make a change to the style.less file and save it. The changes are NOT reflected in the site. What do I have to do to make my changes show up? FYI - just installed the latest Pagelines and the MUD child theme so am working int he MUD child theme directory.
  21. I'm wanting to make customizations to my pagelines theme. I'm wondering the following: - Is it still best practice to use the Pagelines Base Theme for all changes? - Now that pagelines is 'Less', should I not modify style.css in the base theme? - Should I update the Base them everytime a new Pageline update is pushed out? Does it matter? - Can I/should I copy the less folder into the base theme folder and make modifications from there? Thanks in advance.

I installed a new WP with PL Framework 2.3 and i can see In the updated (1) I can not see the less format like the new installation (2) What am I doing wrong? I donĀ“t have any plugin installed and when I updated previously I deleted all my CSS rules. Thanks in advance.
