How to change background color of main navigation using CSS?

Question

Posted · Report post

Hi, I want to change the background color of my main navigation to red and the text to white. I also want to change the background color to black when a user hovers over a menu-item. It doesn't seem to be possible using design control because it ends up changing the color of the page background too. So, could anyone please tell me what CSS code I need to add to make this happen? It appears that the look you want is already there. Do you mean that you want a different shade of red...?

Ahhh yes I figured it out while I was waiting. The problem was that the custom css section wasn't saving my updates. I think it may be a bug. The changes worked if I put them in my base.css file though. The only thing I would like to do now is to change the color of the text to white when it is hovered over. At the moment it is grey. What code would I need for that.

You'll need this (pasted into base.css):

ul.main-nav li.page_item a:hover {color: #fff;}
