I want to use my categories as my main navigation instead of pages, and still be able to have a feature page. Is there any way to do this?

Hey antonio. Create dummy category pages, and use the "Page Links To" plugin to direct the page to the actual category pages. You'll than have links on the nav bar that point to each category.

Thank you, once that is done is there anyway to then get it to inherit a categories child categories in a dropdown navigation? for example through your metho, I have accomplished getting category "Test" on my main navigation. But Child categories attached to "Test" do not show up as drop down options.

I wish there was a way I could return this theme somehow, I appreciate you helping but this is a very cumbersome solution for something that comes standard in many free themes.

Hey antonio. If you have many categories, I can help you set up the nav to use categories instead of pages if you'd like. It'll require some theme file editing. Up for it?
