DMS 2 Conflict with Plugin

Question

Posted · Report post

I am developing a site for a Real Estate agent, who requires an IDX plugin.  While the plugin is essentially functioning correctly, some of the built in page layouts and functions are not working correctly.  I contacted their support and this was their response, which I need your help with:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

> When I attempt to view all of the additional photos for a listing, the
> layout is not responding correctly.

It looks like the main issue is that your theme has a filter which adds <p> (paragraph) tags where it deems appropriate. However, it is adding too many and is adding some in places that is breaking the JavaScript from our plugin. There are two methods to handle this:

1. http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wpautop
2. https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpautop-control/

Once this is handled, we can work on the images not appearing after the second image. This is most likely an issue with the theme and will be resolved by the fix described in the following support article:

The sold featured listings page will automatically update as listings which were once active become sold.

> Lastly, the map function does not seem to be working - no maps are

The map is broken due to the <p> tag issue that I described earlier.

-----------------------------------------------

I do not know how and where to change the wpautop so I appreciate any help you can offer me!!

Thanks - sorry this was not easy to find - here is the featured listings page.  The listings show, however, there is supposed to be a map at the top and when you try to view the additional photos, the layout doesn't work.  Then when you click into an individual listing page, there is supposed to be a slider at the top.

First disable the addthis plugin, thats adding javascript to every post.

DMS does not add P tags to any javascript not sure what they mean by that

You using an out of date version of DMS.

OK - I will update my version of DMS.  What do you mean by the "addthis" plugin?

Hello - I still need help with this issue.  The technical support for the plugin has written this:

"Myself and another engineer looked at the HTML from a few IDX pages and it appears that there is something in the theme that's causing the issue. We think it's being caused by an improperly closed HTML element. We spent some time looking for the tag but were unsuccessful.

To test that the issue is theme related, we tried Leah's account on a WordPress site using the default "Twenty Twelve" theme and the page appears correctly. I've attached a screenshot of this."

I've noticed that the pages from this IDX plugin automatically get created in the "WP Content/Loop" section. I don't know if it would help, but is there a way to make the pages get created in just a regular text section rather than the post loop?  I really appreciate any direction you can help me take this.

Sorry Danny - I temporarily deactivated the plugin.  Its back on now...the problems so far are on these pages:

http://dev.leahapplewhite.com/homes-for-sale-featured/ - the map function does not work at the top of the page and the additional photos do not show

This is an individual listing page - http://dev.leahapplewhite.com/homes-for-sale-details/9476-NE-North-Town-Lp-Bainbridge-Island-WA-98110/652945/26/ - the styling on the layout is not correct and the photo is supposed to be a slider.

There are several other pages that "automatically" get created by the plugin.  I'm wondering if there is a way to make a page template that would work just for those pages, that might fix the problem?

Thanks for taking the time to look into this...

Can you send me an email with the plugins you're using please, as I have no experience with the IDX plugin itself. Also, when viewing the structure of the listings, it appears to be using Bootstrap 3.x grid classes, is this something you have added yourself or is it generated by the plugin ?

As the CSS isn't loading so the grids columns have no CSS associated to them.

You can email using the following: danny at pagelines dot com

Hi Danny - I'm checking in to see if you got the email I sent last week in regards to this issue?  I will re-send it just in case you didn't receive it.  Thanks!

Thanks Danny - I misunderstood that you wanted the actual files.  I have sent you an email with the IDX plugin files attached.  :)

After doing a quick look, the only conclusion I can come to is that the issue with your slider is related to the fact that the plugin is using Bootstrap 3.x and DMS uses a customized version of Bootstrap 2.x and the two appear to be conflicting. We are unable to disable Bootstrap styling in DMS, as it would remove most of the basic styling for all sections in DMS.

In regards to why the Map isn't showing, I am not sure. There is no error on your site when view through the console. However, it is likely related to the findings above.

I don't think this can be resolved as the plugin is using Bootstrap and so are we, but two completely different versions.
