Titles not showing in Category and tag pages

Best Answer greenfly , 27 June 2014 - 01:33 PM

OK, did it!, Thanks for your help Martin.

For anyone who needs to do this, you need to..

Hook in before 'loop-start'

and enter

<h1><?php single_cat_title(); ?></h1>

<h2><?php echo category_description( $category_id ); ?></h2>

Great stuff - thank you for letting us know.

Hi everyone,

On my categories and tags pages/archives the page title fails to show, yet shows everywhere else. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks, Andrew

Hi Martin,

Thanks very much for your offer to have a look.

It's very scary giving an admin login to my site to an unknown person! Is this full required?

Don't mean to look a gift horse in the mouth as it were!

It's up to you. You do not have to give a logon to anyone and we are not going to insist.

Could you take screenshots of the page templates where this works and templates of the pages where this doesn't please?

Please upload your images to an image sharing site (like imgur.com) and then share the links please.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your reply and for not taking offence!

With Title showing (on a 'page')...

With Title not showing (On a Category Page)

Thanks, Andrew

It seems to be any page that is dynamically generated by wordpress/pagelines to populate the page, as in categories, or tags

Sorry, what we wanted to see was the Page templates themselves not the pages.

In PageLines Admin > Site Settings > Website setup do you have 'show Page titles' ticked ? http://screencast.com/t/gLHXUE7v

Sorry!

Do you need to know what is in the 'Content' area or the whole page template area?

But I can tell you now that the default template has exactly the same settings applied as the category and Tags templates...?

I also just tried adding an H1 title text in the a page that I have set as the blog page and it doesn't show up in the live web page..?

DO you have the content section 'post loop' assigned on the template? Are you asking WordPress to dynamically create your blog page by selecting a page from WordPress > Settings > Reading ?

Hi,

I have post loop active on all templates (though I think now that I may not need too), but yes on default template which is the template for the page I am using as my 'Wordpress Posts Page'

I do have my blog page set as a 'page' in Wordpress

The WordPress post page will not show anything from your page content as it is created dynamically.

There is a way around this, Do you have the Content Box section?

I have Boxes? But not specifically Content Box

Is this still available? I dont seem to be able to get to it from the old Pagelines framework webpage http://demo.pagelines.me/sections/

Ahh,

I think I may have found it in a load of sections that were posted for all users when Framework was left for DMS.

Yep, installed and live...

How would I use this section to achieve the goal?

I would use a plugin to get WordPress to display your PageTitle or Category Title.

You could use http://wordpress.org...custom-titles/

I was going to suggest http://wordpress.org...ins/wp-title-2/ that i have used previously but this plugin is no longer supported.

There may be lots of other plugins that achieve this in various ways. http://wordpress.org/plugins/

Add the contentbox section to your blog template, category template etc and then add the content to ContentBox.

The content you can add can be the output of the plugin.

there are some filters that you can use too.

Add the contentbox section to your blog template, category template etc and then add the content to ContentBox.

Do you know of any more instruction on how to do this?

I can drag the contentbox into the content area, but there is no way to drag the content into that box...?

Thanks!

OK, so does anybody know how to put a hook in the functions page to display the Page title and Category/tag Description on category and tag pages?

Many thanks in advance,

Andrew

You can use the Actionmap plugin to find out where on the page to place the hook and then you can add the hook using the hooker plugin.

If you need the plugins please drop me an email to hello @ PageLines dot com and i will provide these to you.
