DMS 2 Footer does not stay at the bottom of window

Question

Posted · Report post

Hi,

I can't get the footer to stay touching the bottom of the window. There is a whitespace below it when I have less content on page.

I have tried position: fixed in CSS for the footer. But then the footer is always on screen hiding the content.

How can I get fix this?

HI,

This because of you do not have enough content, you can either increase the min-height following James suggestion here - http://forum.pagelines.com/topic/24173-sticky-footer/

Or you can remove your footer completely and create a sticky element instead using my example here - http://forum.pagelines.com/topic/35005-the-fixed-header-section-on-bottom/?p=206984

If you're not comfortable with custom code such as the one I linked above which creates a sticky element, then you will want to use James suggestion or add more content to your page.

Hey Danny,

I have tried the CSS fixed footer option but that is not what I want. I don;t want the footer to cover my content.

.footer{
     width:100%;
     height:56px;
     position:absolute;
     bottom:0;
    }
I have used this code and this works for the pages with less content. But on pages with full content, it drops the footer in middle of the page.
I am a bit confused why is that happening. Since you know the structure of your theme better, please can you advise me on this.

Thanks
Jinesh

Can you provide an example of this sticky footer being in the middle of the page when the page has full content. As I tested that code before adding it to that topic and I never once encounter that problem.

Your code has the position: fixed; which keeps the footer on the screen all the time. I want the footer to stay at bottom of window and bottom of cotent.

I am using position: absolute; which fixes my problem on short pages. See screen grab:

And on long pages:

Unfortunately, this isn't something we can provide assistance with as this is your own code. We do not provide support for user created code, you will need to ask this on a CSS specific forum or try Stack overflow.
