DMS 2 How to create a page anchor with an ID so I can jump to it with #

Question

Posted · Report post

I'm trying to duplicate something this page is doing with the drop down menus (The "Business View" menu for example):

http://napait.com/businessview

I want to create a custom menu URL that can jump to a section using the #, like this:

http://napait.com/businessview/#how-it-works

I already know how to create the menu with the URL but cant figure out how to create custom ID's for sections.  I don't want to use the predefined template scope ID's because I want my URL links to be readable.  For example, I don't want to use "highlightux5t728", or "pl_areau22bf3" in a URL because it make little sense.

He is using a Canvas Area, and somehow he got this code into his Canvas Area section so his drop down menus could jump to it:

<span id="how-it-works"> </span>

I do this all the time when I write HTML code, but can't see where to put an ID in any of the sections except ones like Media Box that have a custom HTML box you can insert code into.

Can someone help?

Thanks,

Derek

Drag a text box section into the canvas and put the code in there or if you have another section with inthe canvas area like a media box or ibox.

Hi,

You start by adding  #targetname to your menu URL area like so

and add this bit of code <a id="contact"></a>  where you want to jump to  your target name needs to be the same  in both.

as for where you put it thats really up to you I wanted to go the highlight section so i stuck it there but can drag a text box somewhere and put the code in there and it will work the same .

hope this helps

Aires, I have that part down but was asking about where to put the code with an id like your example: <a id="contact"></a>

For example in a Canvas Section, I don't see any place to enter custom HTML code.  Can I just drop it in the Custom Styling Classes?  Probably not...

There is no place to add the HTML code that I can see.

OK I see you edited your post and included a screen shot showing how to add the code to a Highlight Section.  I didn't know you could just drop HTML into a Text area.  That is helpful.  I'm still wondering how to do that with a Canvas Area section.  Maybe only possible with a Plugin?  Seems like basic functionality that should be possible without plugins.
