How come YouTube is not supported for backgrounds...?

Seems only MP4 & OGG files are supported.

 

Support for YouTube videos, as backgrounds, would be great.

Can you host the video file on Amazon S3?

In regards to YouTube videos, I will add this to our tracker as a feature request.

 

For the hosting question, I am not sure how Amazon S3 works, is that a CDN? Can you not just upload your video to the service and then copy and paste the URL into the field ?

Sorry for the questions, but I did not see clear instructions anywhere.

 

Yes, it will work for me, since I host on WPEngine.

For people with shared hosting, it is likely to be a disaster.

 

Bandwidth issues will be a major problem, and possibly the speed.

 

By using YouTube, the bandwidth issue would go away. 

 

I think S3 will work though.

In my opinion, no one should be using shared hosting especially if they wish to use videos for backgrounds. 

 

Also, have you tried adding the YouTube URL into the video field ?
