Blog Post Excerpt - How to Remove from Footer

Question

Posted · Report post

Hi,

I'm having difficulty removing a new blog post excerpt from the footer.  I don't know if this appears by default but I would like to remove it.  I've gone to Site Options - Blog and Posts - and unchecked all Summary Handling options, but the excerpt still appears.  I've looked at the template footer and even the Header and Footer section under Site Options to see if there are any components to change, but I don't see any viable options.

Thanks so much for any advice you can provide to resolve the issue.

Thanks so much,

Andy

Please forgive me but I would rather not provide my url for a variety of reasons.  The post excerpt is automatically displayed in the footer.  Without seeing the site, is there a possible option or two you can suggest to remove the post excerpt?  Thanks

Ideally we would need to see the site setup etc in order to see the problem and advise how to remove it.

I suggest setting up another site in a dev environment with the same settings and sending us a link to that instead maybe? Or maybe screenshots showing the settings.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your timely response.  The footer just shows the title of the post and underneath it, the first few words of the post ), followed by the word 'and [...].'  If necessary, I'll set up another site to show you what I'm talking about although it may take a day or two.

It just seems that the post excerpt is displayed by default.  There should be some easy way to remove it.

By the way, the excerpt that appears includes a clickable title.  Thanks.

In the Footer and Header section, I requested two columns.  The excerpt appears under the second column, right above the copyright date.

No, the screencast image you provided is not what I'm referring to.  The footer section looks like the following:

Column 1                                Column 2

Footer menu links                   Blog post title (title is clickable)

First 11 words of the blog post, followed by [and ....]

                                                copyright symbol 2014

I was hoping to remove the blog post title and verbiage in column 2.  I hope that helps.
