PageLines DMS losing content

Question

Posted (edited) · Report post

I think i found a bug and wanted to know if this i a known issues or new and if it is fixed soon, because we really need to rely on our CMS... Here is the description and a screencast:

Screencast:
http://screencast.com/t/ixiXUBkjL9xS

Description:

  • - Drag a TextBox to a global section like the footer
  • - edit the text in this textbox, let's say "textbox in the footer"
  • - publish this change
  • - reload the page
  • - create another new textbox and drag it in a global(!) section like the header
  • - DON'T publish this change yet!
    • - watch the newly created textboxes content is predefined to the firstly created textbox in the footer saying "textbox in the footer"
    • - ALL upcoming textboxes created anywhere in the page will be predefined with the text "textbox in the footer"
  • - move the newly created textbox from the header to the content section
  • - edit the text in the new textbox
  • - publish your changes
  • - reload the page
  • - watch the newly created textbox in the wrong place. it should be in the content section, but it got back to the header section
  • - try to edit the new textbox, now in the header. the content in the textarea disappeared
  • - clicking in the new textboxes empty content/textarea makes the text in the element in the page disappear too
  • => your losing content/ the ability to edit content

We have the latest WP Version and no other plugins than the pro tools and the dms theme installed!

This has been identified by The development team and Andrew is applying a fix. I will let you know when this goes live.

Hi Martin,

could you tell me when approximately the fix will be applied?
We lost content again, it's on the page, but not in the text input/text area of the element's content.

We can't reproduce why. It was another behaviour than stated above.

We really need to rely on the CMS/DMS ...

Best regards,

Andreas

I thank you, but this is not our problem. Our problem is, that we

- create TextBoxes

- insert Content

-publish it and after reloading, or sometimes days later when revisting the page, even if the days before everything went right and was visible, the content in the TextBox (html textarea to edit the content) is gone.

I uploaded a new screencast showing how the content is lost.

This time i didn't move the TextBox through header/footer/global elements.

In this screencast the Rich Text Addon is used, but this happens also if i only input text in the content textarea only.

But not everytime!

Important: After the text appears in the textarea i clicked out of the textarea until clicking on the reload/save button. I did not miss that step!

Please please help!

HellO @cemico

DMS 2.0 has now been released with fixes for these issues included.

We can't use DMS 2.0 because the Flatten theme we are using isn't compatible with ist.

We contacted the Flatten developer and he said that he can't port the theme the next days, but we need complete functionality and reliability now.

We are still losing content. When will the issue be fixed?

All the content in my footer keeps disappearing. Randomly for no reason at all. Even times when I am working in a different section it disappears.

I had a:

Share Bar

Media Box

Highlight

Sociallinks

They all keep disappearing. It has happened about 4 times in the last 3 hours.

There are more and more people reporting the loss of content.

And no one could and wants to help me out, because in my case the error is not reproducable.

I come up with the standard answer from the PL support for you:

- Update your Wordpress, DMS and all Plugins to the latest versions.

- Then deactivate all plugins.

Do you also loose content after doing these steps?

cemico - You have created multiple topics regarding this issue of yours and you have had all our staff members and one of our developers reply to you in each of your topics. This issue can not be recreated by any of us, the issue is likely either plugins you have installed or your server configuration.

There was an issue with users not having their changes saved in DMS 1.x, but this has been resolved.

Danny

Yes, it couldn't be reproduced by you and any of us.

I got another message from the staff in the forums that said, that DMS2 is not really multiuser capable. That's the last thing i heard. And maybe this is the point. See:
http://forum.pagelines.com/topic/34966-dms2-is-loosing-content-again/page-2#entry207105

corykbarros are you working on DMS2 alone or with multiple users?
