Site: http://beyondsalad.com

Using: DMS 1.1.6

WP: 3.8.1

Host: ipage

I dont know what just happened.  I was editing the columns of my page and then they all 'collapsed' on each other.  Instead of how they NORmally are, where one column is NEXT to the other, and if you resize one, it pushes the other out of the way, as you can see here (http://www.monkeyv.com/b3f22 ; http://beyondsalad.c...taulfo-mangoes/) they are now stacked.  There were two columns side by side, comments in the larger one. If I try to move the comments section out from under the one column it just goes right back under something else.  If I try to resize a column, it resizes but nothing actually moves.  I cant change the positioning of the columns or anything.  If I try to add a two column section to the layout, everything disappears (http://www.monkeyv.com/c91f5).  I saw that there was an update and went to 1.1.6, but it didnt help.

Also, I was editing things in the local text box and highlight, but it is acting like a global edit, showing the exact same changes on this page (http://beyondsalad.c...s/roots/ginger/).

I am banging my head against the wall over here.
Any ideas?

Also, any illumination as to why my site loads so bloody slowly would be awesome as well :/

Thanks

Hi there,

What are the widths of each of the columns in the editor, the columns are based on the bootstrap grid which means full width of the available section is 12, so in order to be side by side each will need to be 6 or one 4 the other 8 etc. If the width of the two columns is over 12 then it moves down to the next line. Also if you've made any css adjustments to the padding/margins in the column this can push the column outside of the available content area.

Any sections like textbox if placed in the header or footer area of the page they will appear on each page/template. Make sure any content you want to appear local depending on the template is applied to the template area of the page.

For tips on speeding up your site/speed issues see - http://forum.pagelin...uest-for-speed/ which might be able to help further.

I understand this idea, and usually, it is how it works, but as you can see from the photo I attached before, and in these two (www.monkeyv.com/3a871 & www.monkeyv.com/153ca), the columns are actually stacked on TOP of each other, as in, you can see the dotted lines of one, THROUGH the other, not one above and scroll down to see another below.  I did not resize the columns - what used to sit side by side no longer sits side by side.

Also, the text boxes are in the body of the page, not the header or footer.  I am a little slow, but im not wholly inept - something is actually wrong.

Hi there,

I'm unable to view the live site unfortunately, its says loading but just continues to load the actual page doesn't come up. I think the best option so we can see the exact set up and how its reacting would be to record a short screencast for us so we can see the editing live.

Please deactivate any third party plugins first, just incase some code is overriding the column width or adjusting the editor.

Then install http://www.techsmith.com/jing.html. Record us a short screencast and drop the link in to your response and we'll be able to look at what's happening for you.

hey, ok. this is another post with exactly the same problem I read on your forum. Can you please resolve this problem on public instead of doing it privately. Its a common problem with dms as I can see on your forum, so please sort it out! Your customers paying hundreds of bucks and what we get instead?

We are being told to uninstall all third party plugins when I'm sure most of us done it  before even contacted you. I used to run my website on Pagelines theme 3-4 years ago and it was somethnig you could be proud of, but since you switched to dms its a disaster! However we dont pay you to move somewhere else, so please solve the issue.

No third plugins installed, columns stack one on another after refreshing the page , custom css removed.  DMS and Wordpress only and the problem still appears.

Thanks

Greg

@BeyS - You're using an out of date version of DMS, can you please update to the latest version, as we do not provide support to users with out of date products.

You also have W3 Total Cache installed and active, this is likely the cause of your issue. Cache plugins should not be used until your site design has been completed unless you know what you're doing. Cache plugins when used like this cause all sort of issues with sites, when you're changing the layout or CSS. So please flush the cache and disable all active plugins, then update to the latest version of DMS. Once you have completed both of these, see if the issue persists, if it doe reply here and let us know.

@gregory.guz - There is no problem, I have 20+ test sites all running either DMS 1.x or DMS 2.x and columns do not stack out of the box. As you can see from my reply to @BeyS, the issue there is caused by one of two things, running an out of date version of DMS and/or using a cache plugin when you're still designing your site.

If you have the latest version of DMS 1.x or DMS 2.x and have no plugins active and are still experiencing this issue, can you please provide a link to the site in question and make sure all plugins are still disabled and that DMS Debug mode is active (DMS Toolbar > Settings > Advanced).

Hi Danny

Thanks for the reply.

This is my url. All plugins are disabled and debug mode is active. DMS 2 version currently showing 2.0.4 - Page Lines Updater is active, so DMS should be up to date.

Thanks

Greg

The latest version of DMS 2.0.6, so you should have an update. However, I don't recall any issue with Columns stacking in 2.0.4. Also debug doesn't appear to be active.

If DMS columns are stacking, there has to be an underlining problem such as some custom scripts or code you have added, as I am using DMS 2.0.4 on a test site and I am unable to recreate your issue.

So can you enable DMS debug bar and also, inform me if possible what you did just before the Columns section started stacking.

Im not sure if there was a problem earielr as I switched to DMS 2 just a few of weeks ago and didint spend much time working on it.

OK, there isn't anything in your debug info that would highlight a potential issue or the cause of your problem. So can you do two things for me please.

1. Update to the latest version of DMS please.

2. In the DMS Pro Tools plugin, can you check that Section Cache isn't enabled, as this has caused issues for some users and is an experimental feature.

1. DMS updated

2. Cache section was disabled as I've tried everything possible what could cause the problem

Problem unfortunately remain.

OK, I have logged into your site and I am unable to see any page that has an issue with Column stacking ?

Have my eyes deceived me or has the issue been resolved ?

If not, can you provide the URL for the page in question please.
