Scroll Nav where to find the docs and one question

Question

Posted · Report post

Hi bestrag,

1.

I just got Scroll nav and scratching my head ... i clicked the link to the docs but no one to talk to apart from the white page ... :-)

2.

And one question: can I have pics as menu items?

or, another way to put it, can I insert something like the code below in 'menu items config' --> 'Alternative title'?

<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-9294" alt="PageLines- Logoblog.002.png" src="http://seeduni.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Logoblog.002.png" width="330" height="120" />

or ...?

Thanks,

hello Frederic

1. please, update to 3.2.2.

Docs are coming real soon. in the meantime:

  • drag&drop Scroll Nav or Scroll Nav Fixed,
  • add "scroll-header" class to any section that you want to be anchor for Snav (through section-options -> Styling Classes),
  • and customize menu items through Snav options.
  • Also, you can manage colors through Settings Tab -> Scroll Nav.

2. Yes, you can add any html or shortcode to Title or Subtitle fields of menu items.

regards, Bestrag

Hi bestrag,

Thanks for the great news about html !

I will start with that.

Maybe just one thing: what is Target Offset ?

All best,

Hi, Frederic.

Docs and video will be released on Tuesday.

Target offset: adjust position where the page will stop when you click on menu item. Enter number of pixels (positive or negative integer) to test it yourself (try ie 80 and -80 and see the difference when you click on the same menu item).

Cheers,

bestrag

Hi bestrag

I got the docs and all is great! Thanks!

One question though ...

I want to align the pics on the right and reduce the space at the bottom like shown here

I have used the codes below but they do not do much - I would love an insight ...

#scroll-navu80mru .sticky-wrapper {
  margin-left: 0;
  padding-left: 0;
  margin-bottom: 0;
}

#scrollnavu80mru .sticky-wrapper {
  margin-left: 0;
  padding-left: 0;
  margin-bottom: 0;
}

#scroll-navu80mru .scrollnav {
  margin-left: 0;
  padding-left: 0;
  margin-bottom: 0;
}

#scroll-navu80mru .snav {
  margin-left: 0;
  padding-left: 0;
  margin-bottom: 0;
}

Oh, another question!

Can we make the Scrollnav, menu and menu item backgrounds transparent?

I guess I maybe able to do that by adding background settings to the codes above.

Hope I am not asking too much ... but that would be really useful.

Thanks

Hello, Frederic.

Transparent background is not possible with this Snav version through color options. You would have to do it through css.

Tomorrow will be pushed update that will bring some less/css changes.

So, assistance with your first and second question will be tomorrow, also.

Regards,

bestrag

Hello, Frederic.

Scroll  Nav update took more time than expected. It will be pushed tomorrow.

and for assistance, I can't deduce much from the image. Please send me a link, and I will inspect.

Or, you can try it yourself. Use Inspect Element in Chrome and identify styles that you want to change. All Scroll Nav less/css is writen with relatively low specificity and with basic (blueprint) style, for easy customization.

Bestrag

Good morning bestrag,

Many thanks for your reply. No worry about the delay - I know the story by heart: 6 months late (and running) on my project! :-)

I went to inspect elements - this is where I got the tentative customisations-that-do-not-work - but it still looks very complicated. I am really a newbie with technology and, although i do get the poetry of coding, i do not always understand the meaning ...

I just need two things:

--> one is align the buttons on the right and reduce the space below as shown here on this page

--> the other is a transparent background to scroll nav menu

See if - and when - you have the time on your hands, it will really help a lot and save me a few hair ... :-)

Hi bestrag,

Good morning and me again.

One quick question: I want to have a one page scroll on this page where every of the 13 titles (Hello world, Share your feelings, start a conversation, take the pledge, etc ...) links to content on the same page.

I understand that this is not possible with scroll nav as it only support one menu per page.

But can that be done with Scroll Header pro?

I tried to look at the the demo but could not open the page.

Thanks for advising,

:-)

Good Morning, Frederic.

Sorry, that is not possible with Scroll Nav or Scroll Header Pro.

If I think of something, I will send you a PM.

Hi Frederic, I also wonder what exactly do you wish to achieve.

I mean do you really want 13 different anchor texts to be linked to the same page. You should consider some plugins to take care of your backlinks and make sure to have no follow - no archive on those.

Also why not just use built-in wp menu?

Hi bestrag,

Many thanks for your reply and apologies for such delay in mine ... too much happening on this side of the world ... :-)

Built-in wp menu - do you mean using widgets in widgetised sections?

Hello Frederic,

yeah there is really much happening on that side of the world :(

I am actually not really sure what exactly you need to achieve. I am guessing that you could use wordpress custom navigation. Google it and tell me if that solves your problem, if not please give me better explanation and we will find solution together, no problems.

also, I really like what you are doing at http://seeduni.com/

wish you all best and take care

Good morning Bestrag!

Many thanks for your reply, appreciation and support - means a lot! and many thanks for you kind offer of support!

I googled custom navigation and ... scratched my head again ... I do not know enough to do much with the info.

Basically, I am trying to have a one page scroll on this page - maybe not all the items but at least those marked.

The others can work with simple modal shortcodes like in 'contact us'.

Otherwise, I am also rethinking the design as there may be a simpler way of doing that ... let's see.
