Child theme config file download

Question

Posted · Report post

Hi there,

When you export your DMS config settings when you have a child theme I think it used to download the file.  Since I upgraded to DMS 1.1.3 it now says there is no file to download. Clicking publish and download seems to do something but it still says there is no file to download.

There is a config file in the child theme folder though but I don't seem to be able to download it.

I'm using WP 3.6

Thanks in advance :)

Hi there, if you're seeing the option checked like in danny's screenshot - http://d.pr/i/EVEz uncheck the option to download to child theme to get the file to download. Checking the box will publish it to the child theme only and not give you the download file.

Make sure your Wordpress is the latest version as well as the DMS system.

Not all the plugins I need are tested / available in the latest version of WP that's why I'm a little behind the latest.

Isn't DMS 1.1.3 the lates version?

Not sure what you mean ?

Are you referring to this - http://d.pr/i/EVEz

If so you need a child theme to be active for this option to function. This option wont work if DMS (Parent) is the active theme, as it is not a child theme.

Yes that's what I'm referring to. I'm already using a child theme and previously published and downloaded the config file (a copy downloaded I'm assuming).

Since I've upgraded its saying there is no config file as in your screen shot.

The active theme is my child theme.

I recommend you try using Nicks base theme and see if this resolves your issue. I have a Base theme myself, Viewer, HeadLines and PrettyPhoto and all these child themes have the option which I am able to select.

Hi Danny, my child theme is based on Nicks base theme.

I can select the option and the file pl-config.json in my child theme is updated.  Previously though a file was downloaded via the browser for me to save somewhere - that's the bit that's not happening now.

I've disabled all plugins and that has made no difference.
