Hyperlinks

Best Answer Danny , 15 November 2013 - 04:14 PM

Hi Angelica,

Are you referring to the list of cities and countries in that image ?

If so, you are unable to do that with a hyperlink in HTML, to do multiple links in an image will require some rather advanced HTML.

You can get more information on this here - http://www.onextrapi...with-image-map/

Dear web developers,

I've been trying for the last three hours to work with hyperlinks. I have learned all about image maps and slice options, although I don't know which one is better.

I can actually create the hyperlink (and preview it, which made me happy, until I found out that was all I could do).

My problem is that, once I create the hyperlink, I have no idea where it should/what I should do with it, to be live on my site.

I simply don't know the next steps and for the life of me I've tried every single search term I could possibly think of and nothing comes up.

The page I'm working on is at www.latindishdiva.com/nostalgia

I would like to hyperlink all the countries listed.

Any advice, suggestions are desperately needed!

Thank you!

Angelica

Hi Danny,

Yes, that is the list I was referring to. Thank you letting me know what's going on. I would have been searching for hours!

I'll check out the link you sent me, and see if I can figure this out further.

Thank you again!

I guess I mostly need to know what to do after the attributes portion. Am I uploading to my file manager or somewhere in the DMS?

Hi there, once you have the code you can paste the html directly into a page/post. Upload the image into your media library, then paste in your code into the text view (to ensure that wp doesn't add any unwanted breaks), the publish the page.

Hi James,

I just followed your instructions, uploading my image onto the media library and posting the html to the text box, and what shows up is the actual code.

I'm posting it here so you can take a look.

Right now in my template area I have content/post loop section. Before I had media. Which should I use?

Also, should I "attach" my image to the Nostalgia page?

Update: it turns out I had too much information on this code. I only found out when I got help from a local web developer. I just couldn't figure it out on my own.

At least he said I was 90% there :) So not all is lost.

It's up and working now. Thank you all for your help.

Yeah the issue with your code was that for some reason you were including <html> <head></head> <body> </body> </html> tags when there was no need. This is likely the cause of the issue.

Either way happy to hear you have resolved your issue.
