Flushing CSS/LESS Cache Killed the DMS

css Flush Cache

Best Answer James B , 15 November 2013 - 08:05 AM

Hi there, your custom Css/LESS is loading in the source code, I can see all the code is being generated - http://experticity.staging.wpengine.com/wp-content/themes/experticity/style.css?ver=113-1114222033

Have you managed to resolve this since posting?

I flushed the cache and now my css is gone and I can't do anything with the DMS.

Thoughts?

This is how we see your site http://d.pr/i/iM4f

Should it not look like this?

Did you click the Flush Less/CSS button or the Cache in a caching plugin?

Your link isn't working.

I used the Clear all "CSS/LESS cached Data" in the Global options

Ok.  The DMS is just raw html right not but I've checked the "Enable debug" checkbox.  Does that work?

The debug doesn't work for some reason.

Ok - you also have PageLines Customise plugin active - this does not work with DMS. Can you remove this and use a child theme to add your styling to instead of the Customise plugin. You can see information regarding child themes here http://docs.pageline...se-child-themeĀ

Also update all your plugins as you have 3 outdated plugins.

When you have done this, try again - if the site does not work still when you are logged in (site is working as it should when not logged in) Disable all your plugins and try it again.

I'm currently using a child theme to theme our site.

I've removed the Customize plugin and run the updates for the other plugins.

Still not getting any CSS in the DMS.

Looks like your site works ok until you activate the child them, i was able to replicate your issue then.

With just dms flush cache worked ok.

Any idea what the child theme is doing that's causing the issue? Or is that just up to me to figure out?

It seemed to be working fine when with the DMS, I switched it my child theme and it busted again.  I switched it back to the DMS theme and now that is busted.  Can you give me any more information on what might be causing this?

Did you do follow those same step to fix it?

I dont know whats causing it, all i did was disable the child theme, then go to wp-admin -> pagelines and click 'save' this purges all the stored css.

With your child theme only about 10% of css is being generated.. maybe you are filtering variables, less file locations..whatever

Ok.  That helped.  I've got the DMS functioning again.

Although I'm now having a separate issue where the less and section overrides that I have in my child theme are not overriding.  The files are there but they don't seem to being working. I'm following the documentation found here - http://docs.pageline...erride-sections

The files that I'm overriding are:

Less

  • buttons.less
  • colors.less
  • pl-structure.less
  • variables.less

Sections

  • altered-nav
  • navbar
  • pl_area
  • textbox

Thank you for your help by the way.  I really appreciate it.
