I thought it used to be Vanilla but I'm sure I read that it was now another system. It's just a neat layout and the others I've looked at (like Simple Press) look like IT forums from 10 years ago.

Thanks

Hi,

Yeah Vanilla is a nice and simple forum, but for what we require, it wasn't robust enough. We're now using IPB - http://www.invisionpower.com/

You may also want to check out XenForo (old lead developer of vBulletin), its quite nice. http://xenforo.com/

Also, yeah SimplePress is nice and powerful but its default design isn't fantastic.

Thanks I took a look at those. http://www.invisionpower.com/ looks good but it's just too complex to interface with a membership site that I already had set up...I will have to stick with bbpress for the time being.

You could try SimplePress, it integrates with Wordpress and has tons of options, the only downside is that its default styling isn't the greatest.
