I had this same issue a couple weeks ago the last time I updated.

I just went through the updates again and Hero Nav is not allowing the DMS Editor to load.  When logged out the site loads fine.

Evan Mattson was able to fix the issue quickly last time.

Thanks for your help

I have DMS 1.1.3 and Hero Nav 1.1.1

I have Hero Nav deactivated at the moment to use Nav Bar.

After sending the above info I continued reading other posts that were related to Hero Nav and saw that someone had a more recent version than me.

I had just completed all my updates through the Wordpress Updates area and assumed everything was current.  It was not.  Hero Nav was not updated or rather went back to an earlier version.  I'm not sure.  In either case the conflict with DMS editor had returned.

I have now manually updated through the DMS downloads area of my account on the Pagelines site.  The conflict is gone and Hero Nav is now working correctly with the DMS editor. Cool.

You are probably already working on the Updates issue.

Thanks for the cool plugin.

Alan

This is an issue with earlier versions of the section.  The current version is 1.2.2.

Due to a change in DMS, Hero Nav is no longer receiving automatic updates.

Unfortunately, the only fix is to manually uninstall Hero Nav and reinstall the latest version, after-which auto updates will resume as before.

Sorry for the inconvenience guys!

Evan:  I just upgraded to DMS 2 and tested/checked all my plugins.  HeroNav is breaking DMS editor again.  I deleted/re-downloaded/activated and tested using HeroNav Version 1.2.4 and it still won't work. Please advise a fix. thx!

mundee,

I would be happy to look into this. Can you please provide some more info like a PHP notice/error or JS console error that is breaking the editor?

First of all - guys, follow the thread!

I was just made aware of a problem with the fixed top positioning with Hero Nav - are you guys by chance using that?  If not, I really need more information from you guys regarding the errors you're getting.

Please enable WP_DEBUG, if you haven't already to see them.  It can also be helpful to enable WP_DEBUG_LOG to capture them all to a file which is created in wp-content/debug.log (newest items get logged to the bottom).  This can be a big help when you can't get past the editor loading screen to see anything.

I can have a fix out soon but I need to know what your problems are first :)

Evan: I think I am using hero nav at the top of my site.  You can see my correctly working (Old DMS 1.x w/HeroNav enabled) at:  http://DallasTS.com   The site I'm experimenting with is: http://McKinneyTechnology.com --this site is a copy of DallasTS.com site only I've upgraded DMS to latest 2 version and checked/verified heronav plugin is latest version 1.2.4.  The site is browseable and DMS editor works if I disable HeroNav 1.2.4.  If I enable HerNav 1.2.4 the site is not browseable and DMS editor breaks. As for the debug info you are asking for, please assume I've never debugged before. Is there a hyperlink you can send me that can walk me through how to gather the debug info you are asking for?  Thank you!  --Shane

I have an update:  I logged into my wordpress server this morning and saw a new DMS2 update.  I updated from DMS 2.0.2 to DMS 2.0.3.  The HeroNav problem continues... the DMS 2.0.3 update didn't help.  --Shane

Yep,

There are a few things needed to be changed with Hero Nav for DMS 2.  I have an update in the works and I am just going through some tests now.  I hope to have it out later today!

For all you fixed nav users, there will be some changes that will require some minor configuration before things will be back as they were for you.  The main reason for this is that the old way of inserting the fixed navigation as a passive section (not added by drag-drop) was removed in DMS 2 (hence the fatal error).  The new way is to use the fixed drag-drop template region.

There will also be some cool enhancements coming with this update as well like a full-width version of the section (this is what you'll want to use to achieve the same effect as the old fixed nav), per-page/section menu and search control!

Evan: I logged into my Pagelines Account and I now see the HeroNav 1.3 available.  I deleted the old HeroNav plugin from my site.  I then download the new 1.3 heronav plugin  and then try to upload it by choosing the zip file.  WP says "The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found" Plugin install failed".   I checked and the file size of the zip is 1KB.  When I open the zipfile I see one folder with no other files.  Please advise.  Thx!  --Shane

It's not Hero Nav, it has something to do with the PageLines store system when updating the product's zip file.  It happened to me just recently.  I'm trying to work it out with PageLines asap.

Thanks for your patience!

Left my Hero Nav 1.2 installed but de-activated and did the plugin update. It then updated to 1.3.

I then activated it, and it's all now working perfect under DMS 2.0.2.

mundee , Perhaps you could try re-installing Hero Nav 1.2, then try what I did, as it worked for me.

Many thanks Evan, and good luck mundee,

Kev
