Better iBoxes

How to make target open in same tab not new one

Best Answer ahansson89 , 06 November 2013 - 09:40 PM

Hi Sheila,

If you are not good with LESS or CSS I would reccomend that you teach yourself that.

You can add it as an inline style like this:

<a href="http://www.makeover....cs.com/services" style="color: #707070;">More <i class=" icon-arrow-right"></i></a>

I'm using Better iBoxes on this dev site http://www.makeover....mangraphics.com (below quotes). I don not want the visitor to get a new window/tab on each click. I don't see any way to adjust that setting. Thanks. Great plug-in.

Happy to report I figured this out. I actually installed the regular iBox thinking it would be different as it doesn't do that on another site. But when it still did the open new window thing a light bulb went off. I have an old plugin called Outbound links that opens all external links in a new window (so clients don't have to remember to add that tick box when adding new links). It should not have caused this internal link to open in a new window but disabling it did indeed fix this issue. YEAH!

NOW....I wonder if there's a way to have Better iBoxes have just the More link instead of the entire entry be clickable the way the regular one does?

Hi Sheila,

Glad you figured it out.

You can add a link like this in the text area:

<a href="YOUR LINK">Your text <i class="icon-right-arrow"></i></a>

Thats how I would use it.

Thanks for the response and the code. I'm still struggling to make the description text gray (#707070). It's displaying as purple. I think it's because even though I have no link in BetteriBoxes now except in the added text it is still making the entire block of text a link. I think being a link is why it's purple. I want the only thing linked to be the more link and not the rest of it. Can you help? Site is still at http://www.makeover....mangraphics.com

@Aleks

I'm still struggling with this and would appreciate you taking a look. I've actually tried the regular iBoxes twice and I get better results EXCEPT I cannot get the image to work with it.

So right now I have 3 different options displayed on http://makeover.hoffmangraphics.com/ (below quotes).

The first one has NO link specified in the copy or in the link field yet the body copy still links. I can't even tell how it knows what to link to!

The middle one uses this code in the text box:

<a href="http://www.makeover.hoffmangraphics.com/services">More <i class=" icon-arrow-right"></i></a>

That's great looking EXCEPT I do NOT want the text linked in the body. I want it gray not link colored.

So in the 3rd box I tried moving the link out of the text box and using the same code to make the more link. As you can see it sort of works in that the text is now gray and the more link does link correctly and have the arrow. HOWEVER, it is located above the image instead of below and it displays some bad code. I've tried to clean that up but so far no joy. If I remove all the code for the icon-arrow-right and just put a link in it then the entire description lights up as a link again.

Can you PLEASE help me sort this? Right now you can still see the non-Better iBox below. The text and link look as I'd like but I cannot get the image on it to behave normally. Thanks.

Your site looks great.

My personal opinion is that purple looks best on the iBox links ;)

Thanks for the compliment Aleks. I just got off the phone doing a hands-on tutorial with Ellen Moore. We fixed up everything that I needed while I learned. What a great asset. As it turned out I switched back to using regular iBox. I like how it looks now. IMHO there should be a choice to only have the more link be linked OR to have the full text linked. Thanks for all you do.
