having the blog page only show a certain catagory

Question

Posted · Report post

hi.

I thought this was something I'd done easily in the past but I'm not finding it today.

I have a blog page that I only want to pull 1 catagory in but its pulling all of them.

is there a good way to just show 1 category?

I've used pagelines postpins for this situation, but I'd like to have it on the normal blog.

probably is its pulling in this receipe catagory that doesn't belong.

thanks,

Hi,

To hide Sidebars on your Category pages, login to your Wordpress Admin Dashboard > Page Options > Category and then select Full Width layout.

Hi there,

You'd use a category page instead of the blog page on the site. You'll need to make a custom menu via appearance>menus which lets you add a category and creates the page dynamically only pulling in the posts from that category.

There you'll be able to select the pages you want to appear in the custom menu and you'll also be able to select a category. Add the category and edit the 'label' to call it blog (if you want it to appear as blog still).

Full details and a video tutorial on setting up custom menus can be found at http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
