Putting the Blog layout on a Category page

layout blog category

Best Answer Danny , 07 October 2013 - 10:48 AM

Hi,

Add the following code to your child themes or customize plugins functions.php file:

 add_filter( 'pagelines_full_width_archives', 'my_do_full_width_archives' );
function my_do_full_width_archives() {

    if ( is_category() )
        return true;
}

By adding the code, your category pages will use the same layout as you Blog page.

Hello:

Would anyone know how to achieve the Blog layout (2 large stories at top, smaller headlines for older posts below) for a Categories page?

I've searched through the Templates for both and can't see a difference or how to specify a layout style on Categories.

By the way of illustration, this is the page layout I have which I like:

.. and I want to impose it on this Category page:

Any help would be welcome.

Kind regards, Russell

Hi Danny:

Thanks for your reply on my question (and apologies for my slow response). Just one more question. If I want to remove the Blog page formatting where it makes older posts smaller in size than newer posts, how do I do this? In other words, I want all Blog entries have headlines of the same size and snippet text of the same size.

Thanks, Russell

Hi Danny:

Please disregard my last question. I figured I could solve my problem by going into the Base Theme Global Settings.

Thanks anyhow.

Kind regards, Russell

Would something similar work in DMS?

In DMS you can choose to display either magazine or list layout. If you choose magazine there's an option to choose how many posts display full width at the top in the postloop section options.

, It looks like you solved this and I am excited to try your solution! However, if I am using DMS and not a child theme is there a way that I can add the code without editing the core DMS files? You mentioned a customize plugin but after searching through the store I am not sure what you are referencing.

Can you explain further or provide a link?

Thanks!!

Hi there, you can download the customize plugin from

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

this is the free PageLines Framework plugins, but the customize plugin zip is inside and still works with DMS. Please note the other plugins/sections in that zip file wont work with DMS.
