Rev Slider

Rev Slider

Best Answer Danny , 11 November 2013 - 03:13 PM

Using the RevSlider section, you can add an image and then add whatever you like to the Slide Extra Elements option. If you see my response here you will get some understanding of it.

Basically, that code will add a video to your RevSlider, you can do the same thing for text, images and so forth, all the different options are on this page - http://www.orbis-ing...n.html#!/markup

You can use them to provide different functionality such as position, effect etc...

I've looked over the documentation for the Rev Slider and am ready to start playing around with this. However, I need to know where to start.

I would like to be able to change the background color of the text, remove the advance bar from the bottom.  Any direction would be helpful.

Thanks

Hi jmad

You can add some CSS rules in your "Custom Code" or "Base Theme" to change the background color or remove the bar

For example, please you add

.slider-text
    background: none;
    box-shadow: none;}

My exemplary code is not necessarily applicable as written, to your site, so please adjust accordingly.

You have more information here:

Hmmm that didn't work, should slider-text be the name of the styling class?

Also, I noticed that if the text is right or left aligned it doesn't show in the correct position on mobile devices until the second pass.  Is that a known issue or is there a correction I can make?

Hi again

If you want to use styling class, please add the code to "Custom Code" or "Base Theme"

.remove-background-revslider .slider-text

    background: none;
    box-shadow: none;}
Then you add to styling class
remove-backgound-revslider

You have an example how to use  styling class at

@batman  thanks for your help.  If you have experience using Rev Slider with DMS I'd love to hear your thoughts.  Otherwise maybe @Danny could weigh in with the best practice.

I put this on hold and am now back to working with Rev Slider, which I have never done before.  The Rev Slider built into DMS is super basic with hardly any options such as placement of items/layers, timing, etc (I'm surprised they didn't add more since Sliders are a highly used feature).

After searching the web and forums it looks like there are two options.  First use the built in Rev Slider and add my own code to the "slide extra elements" area.  In this case, should I leave everything else in the slide editor blank?

It seems Slider Revolution from code canyon can be used in a full width section.  This is probably easier but will mean extra an extra plugin and I'm worried about it playing nice with DMS.

So all the Rev Slider classes, transitions and easing are already in DMS?

Yup, just add them to your HTML like I did in my post I linked above and that code will add a video with the easing, transitions etc...

When you take that into consideration the RevSlider section is very powerful and can be customized extensively, as you're not limited to the Title, Text fields, you can leave them empty and add your own content using your own custom classes.

I do plan on writing up an article to give a better understanding of this on our docs, but the forums have been crazy lately, so I just haven't had the time.

@Danny

My page is www.subgroup.se

Another questions:

1) I would like to change the captions in the slider, how do I do that? I am not a developer and I have very basic knowledge about coding. Now it looked like this: http://d.pr/i/t1f8 and Id like the text to have this stile: http://d.pr/i/B7DA This is how the codex i use looks like: http://d.pr/i/DYjq

2) Using the same codex than above I have two problems with the video: The video starts automatically as soon as the site starts down loading. I would like the video to start first when you click START.  The other problem is that when starting a video the slider continues going on, Id like it to stop when the video is being play

Please help!

Ricard
