Question

Posted · Report post

Can someone help me solve this problem. I have a client presentation on Tuesday and I need this to full with background issue fixed.

Can I do it with custom code? Will DMS work with that. See images links below

I am using DMS 1.03.

I'm looking at your site.  The background is fixed.  When I shrink the site to the size of a mobile device, it's all shrinking, except the background remains static, displaying the right side of the background and its middle. I think the reason for that is the double 100% code. When I expand it, the image displays more, and more of the left side, till the site occupies my browser, and I see the entire image.  I don't see the flowers.  Well, not until I test this:

body .site-wrap {
    backgroundurl("http://online540dms.flywheelsites.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/twbg2.jpg") no-repeat fixed 100% center #FFFFFF;
    positionrelative;
    transitionall 0.3s ease-in-out 0s;
    z-index0;
}

This resulted in a the image displaying the flowers.

Do you have supersize activated?

Or am I looking at the wrong thing.  I'm known to do that, sadly. A sign of my old age, I guess.

Well as a fast fix, instead of making it fit edge to edge, have you considered tiling it?

You could use css and use the background-clip and/or background-size attributes.

That might help as well. Hard for me tell as i couldn't open the urls

Just my 2 cents

Can I do it in custom code? Will DMS recognize it? Or is it a deeper issue?

Tiling it means I have to get back in touch with the artist and have here create is as a tile and not a static background. Meaning I have to go back and pay her again to do this.

Framework 2.4.4 does this with no issues. I did not expect DMS, which I have paid for as well the extra, to be such a hassle. I love it but how much patience am I supposed to have. Pagelines will be collecting my monthly fee in a day or two and I am thinking of going back to XXXXXX name I will not mention to give me what I want.

I love Pagelines, but dudes and dudettes. When will we see some stability for such a simple thing?

 ICE,

Dude... you mean something like this?

background-size:100% 100%;
background-repeat:no-repeat

That did not work either.

Im just trying to help: I was able to replicate your issue. (I was finally able to view the images). I was able to get the image to expand without code using these settings:

Under Global Settings > Color Style

Fit Image: Unchecked

Horizontal and Vertical: 100%

Try that and if it doesn't work I will be glad to help you troubleshoot it. ( I don't work for Pagelines BTW)

Customized CSS is often very frustrating.  I appreciate everyone's help, two cents, or even their dollar ninety-five! :D

DMS should recognize the custom code, provided it's standard CSS or CSS3.

BlackIce (Gibson cyberpunk fan I see!)

Here is my setting via the Control Panel in DMS as you suggested

This is my result:

Could it be something I did not set to full width?

See the link above. I restarted my browser and saw a change. There is a wide left margin.

So Thanks Blackice...now I have only one more issue to solve so I can move on.   :sword:

Rob,

Rob can you look at my beta site and tell me what the solution would be to fix the background image without using code. I have been able to replicate Floyd's issue. I think it is a template issue. I know it can be fixed with less and/or css. As you stretch the browser you will the image doesn't "Cover" the window.

But for this issue of a background image it shouldn't come down to that. :phew:

Thanks.

@Blackice  I'd be happy to, but Flywheel is asking for login credentials.   PM them to me, if you like. I'll be happy to look into it.

@floydwebb  One of the few things I seem to be good with is graphics.  Send me the image and I'll make it bigger for you, at no cost.

Hey Rob,

Thanks, I can make the background larger, no problem. I am making it 2000 px wide, 303k in load size.

That is bigger than I planned for this. DMS has as supersize checkbox somewhere?

Thanks Rob. I was able to fix it too using the wrapper and some css. I will look for the supersize option.

In your toolbar, select Global Options. From the left menu, select Color and Style.

Upload the image for the site background.

Check the option for Fit image to page? That's the DMS version of supersize.

Rob and Blackice,

Ok I got it to work, I think.

I have not tested in all other browsers yet.

You can see my results here:

Now on to a new issue in a new post now this appears to be solved.
