Does DMS and UberMenu work?

Question

Posted · Report post

Hi everyone,

I thought UberMenu works in DMS. I tried to as per the instructions in this page  - http://sevenspark.com/docs/ubermenu-pagelines-dms

But I can't see Ubermenu in Navigation section??

Did I waste my money purchasing it?

Once you have ubermenu activated, in order to use it, you have to:

Go to wp dashboard ->appearance->menu- manage menus.

barkingsheltie Hi, Thank you!

I have clicked use new menu as per the advise and created a new menu.

But I still didn't get the drag and drop ubermenu section in the navigation box.(check the last screen shot in this link - http://sevenspark.com/docs/ubermenu-pagelines-dms)

I am using the widget method now.

U make a custom widget, put text and the shortcode, and then use widgetizer. Originally I used the section, but it doesn't appear anymore for me - maybe when u use the shortcode it removes the section? Not sure. There is a complete tutorial here how to use the widget method.

Okay,  you should install and activate a base child theme, where you'll find a sections folder.  Install ubernav there.  Install UberMenu as a plugin, as normal. Then, you can go to DMS, and drag the UberNav section to the header.

Do you need a link to a child theme?

I doing the way like smart egg say.

First you have to download urbermenu adaptor to your child theme (section folder ) and you put urbermenu plugin in plugin folder.

You will immediately see urbermenu adaptor under DMS section.

Just follow the rest of institutions from urbermenu DMS

Hey guys!

I made this a little easier. I packed up a UberMenu / DMS section that doesn't need you to make a child theme or mess with your sections folder. You can just install it as a plug-in like most other sections.

I have installation instructions and a download link over on the page describing UberDMS. Yes, it's free :)

I have the Ubermenu sticky extension - doesn't work currently - I will try your plugin and see if this works.

PS - the page on your site you send us - you are not using ubermen sticky here, right? Looks like the sticky nav provided by DMS.

Yeah, not UberMenu on that site. I don't need it there.

Sadly, at the moment the sticky extension doesn't work. On my "possible" todo list is finding a solution to that. I may need to re-implement the sticky stuff independently to hook it the way DMS needs.

Hi Ken,

Maybe a sticky full-width Section. Would be nice if they where cloneable and stack to the top of the page.

I looked on the Seven spark forum today (Ubermenu developer), and found the following fix for the sticky menu.

Hi bfrye,

What is happening is that the DMS is loading its own version of Waypoints, which overrides UberMenu’s version, which causes a javascript error.

I dug around in PageLines DMS and found that this is the issue: they are enqueueing scripts against the wrong hook:

add_action( 'wp_print_scripts', 'pagelines_print_js' );

function pagelines_print_js() {

    wp_enqueue_script( 'pagelines-bootstrap-all' );
    wp_enqueue_script( 'pagelines-easing' );
    wp_enqueue_script( 'pagelines-resizer' );
    wp_enqueue_script( 'pagelines-viewport' );
    wp_enqueue_script( 'pagelines-waypoints' );
    wp_enqueue_script( 'pagelines-fitvids' );
    wp_enqueue_script( 'pagelines-parallax' );
    wp_enqueue_script( 'pagelines-common' );
}

Changing line 142 in actions.site.php to the proper hook:

1
add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'pagelines_print_js' );

resolves the issue.

As described in the WordPress Codex,

Hope that helps!

wp_enqueue_scripts is the proper hook to use when enqueuing items that are meant to appear on the front end.

Thank you soulhuntre I followed http://www.samuraideveloper.com/uberdms/  renamed it to uberdms.zip installed the plugin. I then went to the DMS editor, dropped the section onto the page and got the error (I would attach the image but it became too much work with this forum) "This template returned blank and visitors will not see it. Refresh, settings, or data changes may be needed for output."

Am I missing something?

Everyone!

The DMS/Ubermenu section was officially released yesterday. No child theme needed.  You can get it in the store and it's FREE!

Not at all. That is a correct message if there will be no output. Did you have Ubermenu installed, activated and with a menu assigned?

Good point!  Whether using Soulhuntre's section or the one provided by DMS, you still require the UberMenu premium plugin to create your menu.  Without Ubermenu, the section is just a container set up to hold the menu.  It will deliver no menu without the UberMenu plugin being installed and activated, and set up correctly.
