Hiding / Disabling Sections on specific pages

Question

Posted · Report post

Hi. I've got a full-width slider on my pages. I'd like to 'not show' it on certain pages. I tried just removing it from a specific page, but that removed it from all pages.

You're using Global settings to add it, and not local so that it would appear on one page only.  Remember this key point.  Global is site-wide, Local is one page at a time.

I'm going to do what I know you don't like, but I must, and remind you to read the docs.

Thanks Rob. I'm actually aware of global vs local (or, at least, I think I am!)  I've been adding sliders to local pages only, but DMS appears to be placing the sample slider data into the slider on every page. So for each page that I do not upload a slider image for, it simply shows the 3 sample sliders.  I probably missed something along the way...

Likewise, I'd like to do the same for items in the Header and Footer...

Hi leftcoastmichael

If I understand you

You can use a simple CSS rules to don´t show for example the RevSlider on one page

So, something like

.page-id-12992 #header.header.pl-region {display: none}

If you also wish to know how I find the page ID, all you need to do is load up FireBug or Google Chromes web dev tool and inspect your page html, at the top you should see body which has a number of classes assigned to it, one of these is page-id-XX (replace XX with your pages id value. I have added a danny´s screenshot to assist you.

leftcoastmichael anything you place in the header section will show on every page you make unless you do what batman says.

Awesome batman"] and thanks @[member="thebastion

I just noticed, the answer to my own question is "don't put the the Full-with slider into the the Header".  Doh.

I'm assuming the same applies to the footer section?

Hi again

Yes, you can apply to the footer section too.

Header and Footer sections are by default, global areas.  DMS or any system will presume you added something to the header or footer to be consistent.
