You can use a membership plugin - this allows you to set up the membership type, billing, access to which pages/menus etc.  This is a guide I found http://chrislema.com/choosing-wordpress-membership-plugin/ there's a lot of choice out there so it's just a matter of testing to see what fits.

Hi CoachJo,

I've been looking at the WPMU Membership plugin for my site.

It's described here: http://wpmu.org/monetize-your-wordpress-website-in-five-minutes-with-membership/

I haven't tried it yet and can't vouch for it, but setup looks simple and there are a lot of options.

Here is the pricing: http://premium.wpmudev.org/join/

Basically, if you only want the Membership plugin the cost is  $19 and that includes 1 month of support. :)

Hi Newbie,

I am a member of WPMU and have the Membership plugin.  I'm almost finished setting it up with DMS.  WPMU has fantastic support.  I rejoined them even when I'd taken my website out of WordPress.  I had tried Membership and other rival plugins at that time.

  1. It's working BUT....  I can't say I've got it completely installed to my liking yet so can't fully endorse it.  I'll keep you posted.

what about the groups plugin?  It allows you to set permissions based on the user level.  You can assign a user to a specific level and that will grant them permission to specific areas.

James, that's about all I'm using Membership for at this point: I'm not even trying to tie in PayPal.

When a user asked a similar question in the past, I pointed them to this plugin and it did the job for them.
