Visual Editor Not Showing All the Way Down

Question

Posted · Report post

Hi there.

I am having some issues with the Visual Editor it is not showing the bottom of all of the options.  It is basically stopping loading half way down.  The attached image shows it better than I can describe.  I am not sure if it is related but the Wordpress admin bar is not showing either.

I have disabled all the plugins but still happening.

I toyed with uninstalling DMS and re-uploading via FTP, however I have a few concerns with what will happen to the content within the DMS sections: i.e., Will content in text boxes remain?  My home page has no Wordpress content, just DMS section content.  I have spent 2 days putting it all in DMS.  I can backup the CSS but not sure about content.

This error is happening on a Mac using latest Chrome no plugins/extensions and Windows 7 Latest Chrome no plugins/extensions.

I'm a bit stuck on what to do without knowing what damage will happen to my content, but the error is slowing me down.

Cheers

Stuart

Hi,

If this is happening on all browsers without any plugins active, it is most likely server related. Can you try and enable PL Debug mode and post the link here.

For info, on how to enable and use debug mode, see our instructions here - http://docs.pagelines.com/support-troubleshooting/diagnosing

When we see the debug information, we may be able to tell if it is server related,

Don't forget to provide is with a link to your website too :D

AH, you're using LiteSpeed, this is a premium webserver, I think a user was using this previously on PageLines Framework and he/she had problems too. We do not have access to LiteSpeed. Therefore, the best course of action is to contact your host and see if there is anything they can recommend.

I will also speak to our developer and see if there is anything we can do on our end.

Hmm..

I aint a ninja when it comes to server configuration, but are both sites on the same server or are they on different servers ?

If they're on different servers if could well be there configuration still. If not then it may be a plugin, or a script if you have added any.

I am in the process of taking the site from the server it is on to the server that works for my colleague to see if that helps?

Stupid thing is it's the same host, just different accounts.  They are Wordpress hosting specialists and are generally pretty good with the config side.

I'll let you know how the transfer goes, and if it works.

With regard the other bit of my question, do you know what happens to sections if I uninstall DMS and reinstall?

The settings for your sections etc.. are stored in the databse, so if you want to have your all your content on the new server, use the Wordpress export tools and DMS export tools.

Have you added any jQuery?  We killed the editor trying to do that!  Still having trouble trying to work out the hook for adding jQuery to the footer!  At the moment we are putting the script in a footer.php in our child theme to get it working but we have been told not to do it this way by DMS staff.

However, the Visual Editor was broken before we did this!

I'm not sure what reinstalling Chrome would solve?

I have transferred the site with the Visual Editor issues as per image above to a hosting account where another DMS install works fine.  I did this using the Duplicator plugin.

The issue remains on the new site on the new hosting. It is therefor not a server issue, it is an install issue.  I am going to try reinstalling DMS.  I got the original zip from your site and not GitHub.

Will let you know what happens on reinstall.

Found the issue...

I was styling a Jetpack form with using the 'form' element and restricting the size.

Apparently the CSS for your Visual Editor uses the same style name.

Sorted.

All the data for the sections I had remained in tact.

Thanks for looking at this.

OK, just a heads up and I will change the information on documentation too.

If you download via GitHub, you will be using the nightly builds product, so there may be issues.

So...

If you want to be l33t and have nighlty builds, download from GitHub.
If you want the free version, download from PageLines.com (orange button on homepage)

If you want the Pro version get from your account page here - http://www.pagelines.com/my-account/
