You'd use CSS to create transparency or opacity.

Hi

How can I get rid of the white area in the footer/bottom? I would like the gradient background to fill out that white area....

Hello Bobbekear

I cannot see a footer on your page

Do you meant the area underneath your content?

Sorry Martin

I was ckecking out a grey body :-) I changed it back to white now so it is easy to see.

The grey worked all right for now - but I still would like to know how to set it to tranparent for another time?
