Hi,

I'd like to a add a sub header inside my menu, just like this:

I know I can do this using custom code, but I would like to use the menu structure of WP.

How can I do this?

Also, if I would be forced to do this manually, what's the easiest way to get that html code inside the header?

Do I have to copy the header.php inside my child theme and add it there?

Hi,

The simplest method would be to add the HTML to a text widget yourself and then add the CSS required, to your custom CSS. Unfortunately, you wont be able to use the WP MENU with this.

Do you need further assistance with this issue?

Well, I'm still trying to find out what I can do with the templating within PL and this was a question related to that. Because I may want to add a mini slider next to the logo for instance, and I'm not sure how to do that besides manually. Untill now I created my templates manually and sometimes added something like the PL boxes next to the logo. But I can't 'split' the header in two halfs, except by copying and editing the header.php.

This is another topic, I know :)

By using a contentbox (free section from the pagelines store) in the header and then using the grid shortcodes inside it demo.pagelines.me/tools/ you'll be able to split the box in two columns. Then you can place your logo in one column and any other content into the other column. This content would have to be added manually, you won't be able to add sections or items from the drag and drop into the column etc. However, I see you want to have a mini slider, there's also a slider shortcode on the 'tools' page you could use in the second column to create the effect you're looking for.

Ok, that should work. It would be better imho if the header would also have regions for placing content. Let's say I wanted to have a logo on the left, an image on the right and beneath that my social icons or a button. That would now be 'a lot of' work with custom code and css. ;)

If you wish to have different elements aligned with one another such as a logo on the left and your social icons/menu on the right, you will want to take a look at the PageLines grid.
