My client uses boxes to add content to a website I built for them. I would love to be able to tell them they can add a box and make paragraphs with the visual editor rather than messing with the html. Kinda clunky. It would feel more natural as a CMS to stay in the visual editor. Thanks for listening.

Hi. Yep. but it my point is that it won't recognize a hard return as a paragraph break. Gotta go to the Text tab and use html

I see what you mean, I'll bring that to the core team's attention.

I don't see this as a PageLines issue in my opinion, the Visual and HTML/Text editor are Wordpress related.

I didn't think of that... now I'm wondering if all custom post-types would have the same issue whether it's Pagelines or any other.

I would assume that anything using the visual/html WP editor would act the same.

Hi Jenny, not the case.... When creating a Banner I can make paragraphs easily with the visual editor - not so with Boxes. Boxes requires html to make a paragraph.

I think the solution you may want for your client is a plugin called WP-Boxer (the free, or the premium edition). This plugin creates "Content Blocks" in place of Boxes, though they're very much the same. It has more layout options and I've tested and used it extensively, without any trouble implementing hard returns to create paragraphs (in Visual mode). Admittedly, I've not tested it in HTML mode to create paragraphs.
The block set up is a bit complex, but if you provide your client with a simple step-by-step guide, they'll be able to create new boxes and add content as they desire. Here it is: http://wordpress.org...er-feed-widget/

I wonder too - just realised that my boxes don't include paragraphs? What is the reasoning?

The reason is Boxes, like Features and banners (from what I can rememeber) do not use the editor in the same way as Posts or Pages do. If you need to use line breaks you will need to use HTML.

Thanks but wouldn't it be better if they did use the editor just like post and pages - I easy to type in text without line break ets but harder to add the html later?

Well as far as I am aware, the reason as to why Boxes, Features and Banners do not use the editor is that it isn't supposed to be used to house paragraph after paragraph of text. These sections are used to display preview or teaser text.

Rob that WP-Boxer plugin is perfect. It's exactly what I needed. Thank you
