Using translation causes widgets / sidebar issues

Question

Posted · Report post

Last week I added dutch translation to my PageLines setup  as found in the documentation.

Today I wanted to enable the tertiary sidebar on a page but instead of showing the widgets I added to it it kept telling me that there were no widgets selected.

After researching the issue together with PL support we found that, oddly, the translation was causing this unexpected behaviour.

So for me the temporary workaround is to just use the english version but obviously this is an issue somehow.

Hope you guys can find and fix the issue.

Thanks!

Marijn

Ok, I've replaced the file with the one you mentioned.

This works indeed.

Seems expected since I see in the file that you changed the translate strings for the sidebar names so it doesn't get translated anymore.

But ok, one step further again...

Maybe there are some 'hard'coded (not translateble) references to tertiary sidebar elsewhere in PL?

I think the problem is the fact Wordpress stores the data by name Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Have you tried deactivating other non-PL plugins to see if the problem persisted?

Yes that was the first thing we tried.

Danny helped me to locate the issue.

We also ruled out iBlogPro 5, which I use for the site, as a source of conflict.

It really was the translation. When I deactivated this (removed the .po and .mo files) the widgets showed up again.

Hi,

It may well be a simple markup issue with the translation file.

Would you kindly attach the .po and .mo files here in response and I'll ask one of our developers to take a look.

Thanks for your patience and cooperation.
