Corrupted PageLines Installation?

Corrupted Drag and drop

Best Answer lflier , 20 January 2013 - 08:14 PM

Aha!

Turns out that this is not related to PageLines at all. Something has changed with my Firefox installation. PageLines works fine in Safari.

I was exploring WP Plugins yesterday and I must have installed the wrong one - maybe one about sections? - and I seem to have corrupted my PageLines (2.4) installation. The site works fine but the PageLines interface is messed up: In particular, the drag and drop section no longer works; the customize CSS section lacks line numbers and color coding; and the layout colors are gone, among other things.

I backed up the database and then removed and reinstalled PageLines, but without success. Any ideas?

Unfortunately the site is local only at this point, on MAMP, so I can't show it to you. But apart from this my experience with PageLines has been great and I have only good things to say about it. I like the drag and drop site formatting and the easy way of adding CSS code, using Firebug to find the element that needs changing.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Its more than likely caused by a 3rd party plugin you installed from wordpress.com.

Go to the plugins page and start disabling until you find the one causing the javascript conflicts.

Thanks.

I disabled everything except PageLines sections. No luck.

On the left side of the dashboard there is a kinetic circular icon that says "Javascript issue Dectector" when I hover over it. That wasn't there when PageLines was working.

Could be a broken wordpress install then.

If your using chrome, use the developer tools to show you what the javascript error is.

Ah well, clear your browser cache then? Personally I use chrome, find it more reliable then firefox.

Whoops! Hold on. The problem is back.

  1. Cleared the cache as you suggested, after which the PageLines page didn't format at all, just HTML
  2. But I'm also getting a warning in the addons about Java. I've updated to the latest version, 7.11, but I'm still getting the warning.
  3. Disabled the Java plugin and it's working again.
  4. Reenabled the plugin and it's still working.
  5. Disabled the plugin just to be safe.

It's working now, but I'd by lying if I said I knew what was going on.

Not sure why you would need any java plugin. All browsers have a javascript compiler built in. The Java plugin used to be needed back in the 90's for viewing java applets but I have not seen one of theme for years!
