Reduce Branding Link Area

The branding area is coded to link that entire area, unfortunately css won't be able to affect that really, unless you try and reduce the width of the container.

In my branding section the link area for the home link goes all the way across the page and covers most of the branding section. How can I quickly adjust it so the only home link area is the branding logo itself?  Thanks.

Also, I've hooked an image link up in the icon section but it's been automatically cut-down to icon sizes. I've been trying to find the right classes and params to fix the icon size, but haven't been successful.

I've added this to my CSS but it's not working:

.icons {width: 59px; height:28px;}
.icons a {width:59px; height:28px; margin-left:0px; opacity: 1;}

UPDATE: I solved the icon issue. Had to put the id tag #branding before the icons class. Still trying to figure out the branding link area issue.
