Banner-Ad-Plugin In Header Of My Page

Question

Posted · Report post

hi there,

i am trying to get simpleadsplugin for my page. it works fine as a widget. now i am trying to place a rotation-place next to my logo on www.puffbohne.de.

i already changed the standard view there by changes to the customize plugin you provide with pagelines.

so far the entry in customize plugin is:
// function name function fkpress_header_info(){ ?> <div class="fkpress_header_info"><a href="http://www.facebook.com/stoeberhaus"><img src="
"></a></div> <?php }

now the author of the simple-ads-plugin recommends a widgetized header - but pagelines doesn't have this, does it? or can i change it to use widgets in the header?

if there is not a widgetized area, i should use:

if(function_exists('drawAdsPlace')) drawAdsPlace(array('id' => 1), true);

but where and how do i place this customization?

any hints?

conclusion: i want to use a banner-rotation next to my page logo. how can i realize this?

frank

You can add a widget to your header by adding the universal sidebar section to it in Drag & Drop. However, the universal sidebar can only be placed below the logo. CSS can be used to reposition it so that it's moved up next to the logo, though: http://www.pagelines.com/wiki/Custom_CSS

Ok, would it be possible to use a different sidebar on your page so that you can use the universal sidebar in the header?

Hi,

There are several, better ways to do this, and I believe you were on the right track to start.

I am presuming that the facebook.com ad you were trying to load was 'static' in the sense of not rotating as you desired.

Personally, I used this hook:

add_action('pagelines_inside_top_branding', 'google_leaderboard_ad');

// function name
function google_leaderboard_ad(){
?>
<div class="leaderboard"><script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "ca-pub-1234567890123456";
/* 728x90, created 10/17/08 */
google_ad_slot = "1234567890";
google_ad_width = 728;
google_ad_height = 90;
//-->
</script>
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script></div>
<?php }

I applied this CSS to make it align right and keep its link:

#branding .leaderboard {
    float: right;
    z-index: 10;
    position: relative;
}

Of course, Google, in this case, is providing the rotation.

If it were not, I'd use OpenX Ad Server software, installed outside the WordPress installation (such as a folder).  In OpenX, I'd place all the ad codes, then use OpenX's code in that same hook above.

Yours seems to be written all in one line and commented out, which would stop it from working.  You're also missing the add action bit.

If it must be widgetized, then you'll have to apply a text widget to the universal sidebar and implement a unique class as you appear to be in your FB code.

If you want to insert content into your site and have used the Universal Sidebar, Contentbox etc.. or you wish to insert content into a specific place, then you're going to need to use a hook.

You can use Robs code as an example, replacing the google ads code for your banner code.

If you're unsure or not comfortable in implementing this, then I recommend you contact one of our Pros, who will be happy to assist you.

Hi

Go to Pagelines > Drag and Drop > Header

and drag Universal SliderBar before the Branding in the Active Sections

Batman's instructions are as always, correct.

The reason for my recommendation is that the universal sidebar will not be side-by-side with the branding logo.  Instead, it will be either above or below.  As a result, your ad will not appear next to the logo.

As Danny pointed out, removing my Google code would be best.

Like this:

add_action('pagelines_inside_top_branding', 'google_leaderboard_ad');

// function name
function google_leaderboard_ad(){
?>
<div class="leaderboard">Your Code Goes Here</div>
<?php }

Just replace "Your Code Goes Here" with your actual ad code.
