Hide Pagelines Control From Bbpress Moderator

Best Answer paul_t , 29 November 2012 - 12:00 PM

As this is connected to the above (Appreciate this is more a WP thing - so no issue with it not being supported here) hope you don;t mind a follow up

Role editor above worked well....just one last need.

Trying to give Editor access to Menus but not the PageLines Tab

It appears that the only way to give Editors access to menus is to grant them Theme Edit privileges (as per below) ie edit_nav_menu privileges get changed as part of the Theme access change  - but then you are back to leaving the whole PageLines tab open to Editors - which is what I was trying to avoid in the first place. ( a lot of this below)

// get the the role object
$role_object = get_role( 'editor' );

// add $cap capability to this role object
$role_object->add_cap( 'edit_theme_options' );

Simply want to have Editor access to everything except the Theme and PageLines Tabs

been around the interweb a few times - can't find any other solutions or updates on the problem (seems fairly common). Any new insights here appreciated

As per title

Have installed a BBPress forum (and PL BBPress plugin) that needs moderating by staff.

I really don't want any of them digging around in the PageLines settings. But cannot find a way to hide that and keep the Forum options available to the potential moderators?

Help appreciated.

There are a number of ways to do this, which I will be adding to the docs once I finish the other sections.

What you can do is use these plugins to restrict Wordpress Settings from specific user roles.

Thanks Danny

Look forward to reading your method when ready.

Any personal preference on the above 2 (never been there - so its going to be a random choice)

Edit: went for Role Editor

All done

Use both plugins, the admin menu editor if I remember rightly allows you can choose specific menu items and remove access to them.

Or you can use the PageLines Framework access control option:

PageLines > Site Options > Advanced, last option.
