Resolved Fonts displaying differently on same browser , different OS

Question

Posted · Report post

My site http://www.kneelandmercado.com/ is displaying the font "Franklin Gothic Medium" differently on different computers. See the side by side. How do I fix this? I actually prefer the display on the right. Is it possible to get every browser to show it this way? I noticed the problem because the last menu item was spilling into a second row on the right. I had to adjust the left margin of the li to keep that from happening but now the menu doesn't appear centered on the other computer displaying the other font.

Just found this possible explanation.

http://webdesignandsuch.com/fix-fonts-that-dont-work-with-google-font-api-in-internet-explorer-or-chrome-with-font-face/

Does the Typography function use the Google Font API to load the font Franklin Gothic Medium?

How can I get the font to display reliabily across different browser / OS / versions / devices?

Frankin is not one of the Google Fonts.

As a result, if it is not in your device (and those of your visitors), it will not appear consistently, even in the same browser. Please keep in mind too, the CSS for fonts usually has three font selections:

1. The selection made in the drop down list

2. A corresponding or similar font (though not always similar)

3. A generic, such as serif or sans-serif.

I would suggest you implement the Google Fonts plugin (free in Dashboard > PageLines > Store) and select a similar one to Franklin.
