Is there a way to have certain posts not show up on the home page?

Right now our site had a feature called "look of the week" that's lives in the sidebar. I'm archive those posts on our facebook page however I'd like to move the archive to the website as well.

I don't want those posts to show up on the home page because it will already be on the sidebar - I don't need want the same post to show up twice.

I know the homepage is dynamically generated but is there a way to hid posts from the home page?

Jane,

Install

This allows you to craft your own customized shortcode and include the categories you prefer to display.

Create a static homepage. Add the shortcode to the body (edit field in HTML View).

Apply the template of your choice to the page and save.

Go to Dashboard > Settings > Reading and change to Static pages. In the top drop down, select the new static homepage. Now only the posts you want displayed will show.

Thanks for the suggestion. I found another plugin that's a bit more straightforward, do you have any experience with Simply Exclude?

None. Is it compatible with WP 3.4.2?

Ok.

Well, I've downloaded it and it's working really well so it seems to me it's compatible although it does say it hasn't been test with that version of wordpress.

Since it's working, I'm keeping it.

Thanks.

(This issue is now resolved.)
