Am using universal sidebar in the contents section of a page - actually for a youtube video - but it runs the whole width of the page.
Just wondering if it's possible to reduce width so that I can get another sidebart alongside it

The universal sidebar is full width by default. You can resize it using CSS. Are you familiar with Firebug?

Yes, Firebug is quite easy. It has two basic columns. Left is your HTML markup and right is the related CSS. The menu has a few tools that allow you to select something on your site that you wish to inspect. A menu appears above the HTML section showing the hierarchy of the code. This is in case the CSS isn't in the bit you're looking at, but perhaps one or two notches above or below.

When you find the CSS that fits, you can copy it, paste it to Custom Code in CSS Rules and edit it accordingly. This way you don't have to actually write code, just tweak it a bit.

We'd need a link to a specific page where the universal sidebar appears to provide some additional guidance.

one of the pages is www.heathrownews.com/olympics
I'm trying to set up a custom page that has the video in a specific size (600-700 px) with a sidebar running down the site

You asked for this, which simply limits the size of the universal sidebar:

ul.sidebar_widgets {
    list-style-type: none;
    width: 700px;
}

However, you'd be well advised to upgrade soon to PageLines Framework which accommodates your need as a built-in function without coding.

PlatformPro is soon to be deprecated and you'll need to upgrade anyway.
