Primary Sidebar shows wrong widgets

Question

Posted · Report post

hi folks, i just installed another pagelines framework on a domain. now for some reason i can't edit my primary sidebar - i choose in pagelines template setup SB1 = Primary Sidebar and put a text widget inside of it - but nothing happend! Primary Sidebar only shows "Category - Archives - Calendar". Am i missing some klicks in the template setup or is this a known issue? When i pull in the "tertiary sidebar" with widgets - it works like it used to - and all widgets are displayed correctly. might be to late for thinking... any ideas on that? help!

Check Dashboard > PageLines > Page Options and the PageLines Meta Settings on the page where the sidebar is supposed to appear to make sure you don't have it hidden.

Okay, the developer has said that both widgets and language files are in no way connected so this issue is somewhat of an enigma. Will need to report this.

This is strange issue. When you add the german .po file and keep all other plugins deactivated, do you see the same issue?

Hi Basmati, It is very difficult to assist you if we do not have a live link to your website. If your website is local or you do not wish to share a link, then can you provide a Jing screencast of your issue or even screenshots please of the following: ??? A screenshot of your Appearance > Widgets area, showing us that you have a widget in Primary Sidebar ??? A screenshot of your PageLines > Drag and Drop > SB1 selected, so we can see which Sidebars you have active. ??? A screenshot of your Wordpress Admin Dashboard > Pages > (select the page in question) PageLines Meta Settings > Page Setup, so we can see that the "Hide Primary Sidebar" is not checked. and any other screenshots that you feel will be beneficial to us. However, a Jing screenshot of your issue would be best.

Hi, A solution to this problem with de sidebar widgets in German localizations: 1.- Edit the "de_DE.po" German language file with "poedit" tool. This file is in languages folder of pagelines theme. 2.- Search the name of sidebars. For example: Primary Sidebar, Secondary Sidebar, Universal Sidebar, etc... 3.- Change the translation to English. For example: Primary Sidebar to Primary Sidebar :-) 4.- Save changes (de_DE.mo file) and exit. Regards

already checked all that options settings, rangelone - nothing was wrong here ... i reinstalled pagelines and now it works - like it used to be. i think that possibly because i tried a lot of different settings in the pagelines setup (sections, fixed and responsive mode, sidebars, colors) - the system got a little buggy!? sometimes - when i hit the save button the process got stucked. anyway - i let you folks know when this happens again. thanks.

The new .po and .mo files may be viewed by WP as installation of a new theme. As a result, your widget order probably went out of normal positioning. Widgets can simply be re-ordered by sliding them from sidebar to sidebar (up and down). Just don't slide them to the left, as that will remove widget settings. But if you slide from Primary to Tertiary, for example, the settings are retained.

its realy strange - thinking about reinstalling pagelines - because i have not worked a lot on the frontend yet!? the system itself had some other strange behaviors - for example: it did not hide the searchbar although the box was checked - i just had to try a few times. & here you are: http://screencast.com/t/E4bw4WYh http://screencast.com/t/pvZu68NmpGIi http://screencast.com/t/WGcfgIn3a http://screencast.com/t/MyyrdHFyT6X http://screencast.com/t/y7py8rG6 in case you feel a little bit lost in foreign languages - "Prim?¤re Seitenleiste" is Germormon for "Primary Sidebar" :)

Can you please deactivate any active plugins you have (if any), clear your browser cache, and refresh your site to see if any widgets show up in the primary sidebar?

I haven't seen this issue before. Let us know what happens after re-install (ensure that you have everything backed up properly before performing it).

Yeah, the problem is with the transtlation names for the sidebars only. When I deleted the names of the sidebars all works fine again. The no real need for me to translate sidebar names...but still - its a wierd problem...

Can you go to Dashboard > PageLines > Page Options and check each of the Default templates and any other templates you're using to make sure that the sidebars are not hidden there. That's a global area similar to individual page PageLines Meta Settings.

I'm not sure what the conflict could be. Does it also happen with any other .PO file (for another language)?
