eliminate padding below fixed nav bar & above header

I want to eliminate the gap between the fixed nav bar and my header.
In firebug I can achieve this by changing the padding-top to 0 this way:

But I haven't been able to do it with code for real on the site.

Also, in some browsers there is a tiny gap sometimes on the right and sometimes on both sides of my header, even though the pixel width is wide enough. I notice that a similar problem exists with the footer. Something is slightly off.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Add !important to your code so it looks like this and see if that works for you.

Also, can you provide screenshots of this gap issue please, as this is something that I havent seen before.

That got rid of the top space. I'll send screenshots when I can. Thanks!
