If I guy Pagelines Framework, do I need to buy a theme too? Or does it work out of the box?

Pagelines Framework can be used as a theme, but it is recommended that you use the child theme called "Base Theme" that can be downloaded for free from the Store once you have Pagelines Framework installed. This way, when Pagelines Framework is updated, you do not lose any of your template changes or customizations.

Thanks, if I've been using Platform pro, what is the upgrade like. I have some extensively styled websites.

MrMyth, the transition is relatively easy however, you may have to edit your custom CSS as many of the CSS elements changed. Additionally, expect that the sidebar widgets will be disorganized. This is very easily resolved by sliding the widgets into the correct sidebar. Just slide up or down (not to the widget holding area) to avoid losing any settings. I transitioned my site, which has more than a dozen WP installations and huge volumes of content. It took about 30 minutes to do the complete transfer, largely because I too had lots of customizations. You'll find Framework easier, more comprehensive and with thousands of new options never available in Platform. Additionally, many of those customizations you have will become moot as the Framework has built in options.
