Footer width

Best Answer James B , 24 January 2014 - 06:40 AM

Hi there, if you have fixed width layout and static pixel selected you can use

body.fixed_width #footer {
    max-width: 1218px !important;
}

Trying to set the footer width to be the same as the content in fixed width mode. My width is 980px and have set it to static width but still showing full width across the page. Do I need to change the CSS?

Hi Stano,

I highly recommend you install Firebug or use Chromes web dev tools, it will honestly make your life much easier.

I have provide the code below for the footer width:

Sorry that still did not work. All it did was remove the margin so the footer started on the far left of the page... Can someone create a master list of the CSS selectors for the components used with this 2.0 framework. The value of this theme/system was that it would be easy to create good looking websites within Wordpress without without php knowledge. Since your developers obviously created their system based on certain CSS selectors for each component, it should be easy to create a guide for the customers of this product to use to create customizable websites quickly without all of the trial and error currently involved. With all of the other request for such a guide, I think it would be a wise investment that would create better value with your product. Please tell me your working on this...

Hello, I can add this master list to a list of customer requests in a Weekly Report that I'll be submitting on Friday. There was a CSS selector guide created by a customer awhile back but there may be some inaccuracies.

Hi, Here's a link that shows you a CSS Selector map of the typical PageLines Framework page construction:

The footer falls outside the page canvas area, so yes, the footer is going to be full width, just as the header will be. Despite the full width of these two elements, things within them fall within the page canvas width of 980px, which is why you don't see any changes from Danny's and Catrina's solutions. There's nothing actually wrong or incorrect. If you use Firebug, you'll see, for example, that things like the Branding Area within the Header match the canvas width, just as the Carousel and Footer Nav Menu fit within it. Everything that should be 980px is that width. That said, I do see that your carousel in the footer doesn't match the canvas width. The reason is that it has a 15px padding around it as part of the content structure. You can use Firebug to identify the combination of selectors, such as .content and .carousel to widen the carousel only to 980px.

The code I provided you works, as a test add the following code to your custom CSS, I have added a background color of red, to display the change.

@adriavidal Can you please create a new topic, it's extremely confusing when there are multiple questions in the same topic.
