So annoying! I go to youtube, get the embed code for our video. Go to drop it into the post in the html view. All is well, Save view etc. Go back to tweak something in view mode...video DISAPPEARS!! Time and time again, different posts, different videos. One minute the code is there, the next its GONE! What am i doing wrong? Is there some plugin I should be using with youtube? Thanks for any advice!

Which "embed code" are you getting? I presume from "HTML View" you are not referring to adding the video to a feature slider but actually into a regular post. To embed a video into a post, just copy the video's URL and paste it into the post. That should work.

How do you control size when you are just dropping in the share link?

Hi all. I have been fighting with this for 2 days now, and I have done everything above. I have also done everything on the link listed above. I have even attempted to install the Media manager that is listed in the docs because the documentation on this sight is so horrid, and it appeared that it was required for Pagelines for any type of multimedia. Since I can't get anything to work, I have been researching other plugins to fit my needs, but anything I find that supports 3.3.1 requires that I create sets on their site instead of just inserting links directly. Can anyone help me? I have inserted every possible syntax through the insert media, I have done it through HTML, I have done it directly in the visual editor, I have messed with the settings for the sizing, I have removed the same, I have literally done everything, and I cannot get anything to work. When I use the recommendations from the site listed above whereby I just put the link in the visual editor without a link and "we'll do the rest", the content does not show up, nor do the "written words" which I would expect if the youtube video functionality were to fail. Help please!

Newbie, I totally understand your problem because the same thing happens to me very time I try to use the embed code.  If I just paste the share code on the Visual tab of the post, the video embeds but without the controls that a true embed gives, i.e. start and stop times.

Hi,

Try our shortcode for applying videos. I've recently tested this and know it absolutely works ;-)

You can find the shortcode for YouTube or Vimeo near the bottom of this link: http://demo.pagelines.me/tools/

I"m trying to use this code:

<object name="GranicusFlashPlayer" width="480" height="390" id="GranicusFlashPlayer" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000">

<param name="flashvars" value="AutoStart=false&SiteID=cook-county.granicus.com&StartPoint=0&StopPoint=9031&MediaType=clip&MediaID=527&EnableClosedCaptions=true&EnableEmbedding=false&AspectRatio=true&LiveStream=false&MovieID=GranicusFlashPlayer&ErrorCode=0" /><param name="menu" value="true"/><param name="quality" value="high"/><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000"/><param name="wmode" value="window"/><param name="scale" value="noscale"/><param name="salign" value="lt"/><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"/><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"/><param name="play" value="false" /><param name="loop" value="true" /><param name="wmode" value="window" /><param name="movie" value=""/><!--[if !IE]>--><object name="GranicusFlashPlayer2" id="GranicusFlashPlayer2" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="" width="480" height="390"><param name="flashvars" value="AutoStart=false&SiteID=cook-county.granicus.com&StartPoint=0&StopPoint=9031&MediaType=clip&MediaID=527&EnableClosedCaptions=true&EnableEmbedding=false&AspectRatio=true&LiveStream=false&MovieID=GranicusFlashPlayer2&ErrorCode=0" /><param name="movie" value="" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" /><param name="play" value="false" /><param name="loop" value="true" /><param name="wmode" value="window" /><param name="scale" value="noscale"/><param name="salign" value="lt"/><param name="menu" value="true" /><param name="devicefont" value="false" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"/><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><!--<![endif]--><a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflash"><img src="http://www.adobe.com...lash_player.gif" alt="Get Adobe Flash player" /></a><!--[if !IE]>--></object><!--<![endif]--></object>

For some reason it keeps getting kicked out.  It's not youtube or vimeo code, it's from a company that streams our board meetings.

I'm not sure where the source of that code is, but how are you applying it? In which mode HTML or Visual? And where?

If you use the embed code, because that is all you have, i.e. you do not have the YouTube or Vimeo link, you HAVE to save it and publish it without switching back to  the visual tab.  VERY annoying.  You cannot paste the embed code in and switch back to the visual tab because it disappears.

OK, like this:  I put in the embed code but want to write something below it.  I switch to the visual tab and then preview and the embedded video does not show (disappeared) but the text added from the visual tab is there.

This is not a problem IF I have the YouTube or Vimeo link code.  The problem is I do not always have that!

I am not sure why none of the support team can understand us....

Unfortunately this is a common problem with Wordpress, the Wordpress support forums are full of support threads regarding this :-(

I would suggest trying an iframe plugin like below. It will help you to embed iframe with this shortcode: [iframe width="640" height="480" src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/3261363"] so now WordPress will not remove your iframe shortcode when you will switch from "HTML" to "Visual" tab in your editor.

Simply the visual editor is for just text, like a text editor is. The text editor is for raw html, code etc. You cannot and have never been able to switch between the two without losing scripts that the editor does not recognise.

This has always been the case and always will be. Its the same for every CMS, blog platform and forum software that uses javascript editors.

Just paste your code into the text editor, better yet totally disable the visual editor altogether.

Thanks James.  Great solution!

Simon, I switch back and forth from visual to text all the time. I can edit the html text and flip back to visual and see the result. The problem is with the embed code only. It is very tricky.  You have to do all of you text, then switch to html text, enter your embed coding and SAVE or PUBLISH and then it works.

I simply think the Pagelines guys with all the VERY COOOL stuff they have programmed for us newbies to easily use, should be able to fix this if this is  a Wordpress issue.  Actually with the millions of Wordpress uses I am surprised Wordpress doesn't do anything about it.

You're welcome, let us know if the plugin resolves the problem :-)

Apparently Wordpress strips out the iframe due to security reasons from what I've read.
