Goaded by Simon and in response to my own suggested idea, I hereby start a showcase topic for just WHP theme sites.

Mine is DiscernThis!.

My previous free theme was three years old and didn't support WP custom menus. I originally purchased Platform Pro but was overwhelmed with it, so I double-downed and purchased the Pro Plus Membership after deciding I could live with WHP.

My intent was to simply mimic the WHP demo as a means to learn and understand the Pagelines schemes generally. I wanted to migrate my existing site as quickly as possible, then "incrementally enhance" it as I go.

Not counting my false start with Platform Pro, I've spent about 12 hours on this so far, which includes about 2 hours dealing with an issue on the feature slider (it drops the 4th image, showing only 3). Thanks to Catrina for helping troubleshoot it and referring to developers.

In addition to exploiting a few of the WHP built-in bells and whistles, I've added a couple of things I really like: the quotation display in the footer that pulls from a stock of over 150 quotes that I kept on my previous site on one long page, and the NextGen Gallery slideshow in the sidebar.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! WHP is a beautiful theme that gets no love. It's really frustrating to search the forum looking for examples of the theme so I can steal...er...view ideas on the best visual use of the product. So, again, thanks for doing this.

As a side note, I was never able to get the slider feature to show only the number of slides I had. It always showed one more (a blank slide) or one less than I had so I stopped using it, but I wish Pagelines would refocus on WHP again to fix these minor but painful bugs.

My personal site: WSAsh.net

Bill, thanks for posting. I was beginning to wonder if it was something I said. ;) Paladin. I remember that show, especially because of the theme. But keeping to the topic, I like your secondary menu on that page ... I need to look into that. That's a good idea and was one of the reasons why I thought a showcase would be beneficial. Pardon the interruption ... next?

What a great topic!

I recently got tired of free themes and all the PHP editing and Bad supports. Drove me nuts as I'm not the best PHP editor online (actually, I might be the worst).

I never thought I'd ever BUY a theme, but when I saw Pagelines themes, it all changed. I wanted the highlight page so bad, that I bought it without thinking about it. Of course, I bought Platform Pro and tried to turn it white (!).. When I found out that WHP is almost a copy.. Just in white! So I changed (luckily) my license to WHP.

I'm currently using almost all of WHP features.. OR at least trying, why? Because it's a great way to share information, and to get a tidy and neat way of providing it. So many sidebars! I love it, I'm finding them all useful from time to time, especially if you try to create an unique page in the sense of that none of the page or grandchild pages look like each other.

I've added a few useful plugins as a you tube widget and a Forum widget. And a few plugins running in the background. The rest WHP can handle, and that's what I love about it. No more sketchy PHP.

My site is called www.on-hands.com

I'll be uploading my own buttons for the slider, favicon, Logo and Banner as soon am done with Designing them!

Next?

PS:billwsashnet; How did you get your frontpage to be an exact lookalike to the WHP demo? I want to do that to!

@ Vindicus - I don't get here often anymore and because this post is no longer a sticky (it was on the old forum) I missed your question. I sent you a forum email to get your email address and I'll mail you the CSS codes (all of which are buried in this forum). And I think your site is pretty cool. Hand stands...who knew? Next?

To All, I hope the moderators will allow this. Even though this thread hasn't been active for a while, I still get visitors to my site from this thread. It would seem to me that users of the Whitehouse theme are still looking to see how it is employed (particularly since the demo is no longer available). To that end, I have included links below to sites I know are currently running the Whitehouse theme, in addition to those already listed above. http://www.christchurchvaldosta.org/ http://www.optimizingengine.com/ http://www.markandnicki.com/ http://texasvoices.org/ http://busy-at-home.com/blog/ http://borivaliassembly.net/ http://www.smokeshoptalk.com/ http://debbonaire.co.uk/ http://www.apcss.org/ http://www.blackfives.com/ http://idahobusinesscouncil.org/ The sites are not offered in any particular order and I (and I assume Pagelines) do not endorse any of the site's contents. It is offer only so others can see other sites using the Whitehouse theme. Bill Oh...next?

Bill, I wouldn't object if you included http://discernthis.com to your list of WHP sites. :)

Hi Steve, Let me say without fear or reservation that this thread owes its very existence to you and http://discernthis.com. I didn??™t mention your site or http://www.on-hands.com or my site because they had been mentioned up stream in the thread, but upon reflection, I probably should have included links to our previously listed sites as well. I continue to be amazed at how diverse the user pool for Whitehouse Pro is. And while I may never buy another Pagelines product, Whitehouse Pro is a keeper and has served me so very well. That said, I hope others will continue to stumble upon this thread and add their sites to this list so I can have other sites to steal??¦er??¦get ideas from. Warmest regards, Bill

What I fear, Bill, is that if the Powers-that-be can just drop a product without any advance notice to paying customers, there's a real risk in continuing to use the product. Who knows what future changes or improvements may be implemented in WordPress that WHP users won't have access to? Granted, any provider can discontinue a product line whenever they want, but in this specific situation I don't think the Powers-that-be have really thought through the business proposition.
